Billy Mann recalls attending an experimental middle school in Philadelphia called the Amy Schools Alternative Middle Years. The school operated in an old office building behind bulletproof glass and mixed students of different ages, including pregnant girls. He was about 12 when he started there.
Amy Schools Alternative Middle Years.
About 12 years old.
There's a school in Philly that they formed like an experimental school for I guess kids that were trouble having a hard time. And it was called the Amy Schools Alternative Middle Years. My mom was like silver lining my mom. It's going to be great. It's supposed to be a great program and she's selling it to me and I'm like, okay. I remember she's driving me to school. We pull up to a building, it's like an old office building and we get in an elevator to go to the school and we go to the top, ring the bell and there's a woman like a bank teller around bulletproof glass. And they like buzz me in. And my mom's like, have a great day. And my mom's like all upbeat. I was like 12 years old. There are dudes with goatees and Adam's apples and deltoids. There's like two pregnant girls. I'm.
