Sylas Converse on Adam Grant's Give and Take: givers create more givers while takers don't spread their behavior. The practical move is asking better questions to learn what people actually need, then being generous with those around you.
So now that there's been a bunch of time between reading the book and you've experienced what you've experienced, is there one big takeaway or last takeaway from the book?
Staying attuned with that idea of generosity and curiosity, Givers create more givers, whereas takers, it doesn't spread like you would think it would. You know, you want to change the world, you got to start by being generous with the people around you. It's that simple. And I really think that curiosity goes hand in hand with it. And so it's learning about these things, about maybe digging past what's maybe on the surface of someone but might be super obvious about someone, and learning those special things that can only come from asking the right questions. I would say that those two things are what I've carried with me. Trying to be a very curious and generous person.
What a place the world would be if everybody practiced that right.
