I was in bands and like, I, I was a really good drummer and I was really good at soccer. And I, I was trying to figure out— I had this moment in my, in my grandfather's front yard when I was 17 where I was— I built this wall that I would kick the soccer ball out so I could practice by myself. And I was out there just, just kicking the ball, practicing. And I was like, thinking about everybody I knew and all the, you know, people I knew that had gone to jail and were failures. And just like, I felt like, I felt like a lot of people around me didn't have it as bad as I'd had it, and they were victims. And I, and by no means do I think I had it the worst, right? There's always somebody that had it worse than you. But I'm just saying, like, I had some comparables in my life that I was like, You know, these, these people are, are doing things that they shouldn't be doing. They're victims. They're miserable. They're always down on their luck. They're always borrowing money. Like, they just, like, perpetually their own worst enemy. And I just had this moment of clarity of like, I'm getting out of here. Like, I'm going to do whatever it takes to be something. I'm not doing that. I'm not. There's no more excuses. Like, I just told myself there's no— when I walked in the house that night, I was a different person. And I don't know what it was, but I can feel that. I can feel the air. I can feel the soccer ball against the wall. I can hear it. It was a moment that's in a time capsule in my brain forever that I decided I was going to make something of myself no matter what. There were going to be no excuses. I wasn't going to be a victim. I was getting out of there. I'm getting out of there now.
