Top-Performing Games For Technicians

Chris Collins and Mark Gonzalez discuss games that motivate service technicians. They suggest bowling with cash-valued pins, garbage-can football tosses, free-throw contests, and a five-card-draw reward system for service upsells.

Let's go to today's question.
Hey Chris, my name is Mark Gonzalez. I'm calling to leave you a question concerning some games. You talk a lot about games with the technicians. Do you have any that you recommend? Like some top performing games? I like the idea and want to put something in place in my new shop to motivate the team in the morning to get them up and going for the day.
We bowling.
Where every pin that they knock down is worth like I don't know, 25 cents or something is really fun. Doing garbage cans with footballs and putting them at different lengths and then throwing footballs. Doing a sign up board at the alignment rack. So every time they sell or every time an advisor adds an alignment to the, to an ro, the attack who does it gets to write the RO number, their name on the board by the alignment rack and in the morning, the next day, put all of the alignment ro numbers in a hat. Pick one and then the tech gets 20 bucks or something or a Starbucks gift card. That's pretty fun.
Kind of a cousin to that is. I've seen this work really well. Take a $20 bill and every time someone does an alignment they get to take the $20 bill from the other person that sold the alignment.
So the last one of the day.
Last one of the day gets 20.
A lot of strategy involved there is that. I, you know one thing that I notice is if you do one like that and then the manager is like, well, you know, actually that RO was written before this ro, but they were hiding the rock.
Yeah, I don't usually worry about that stuff that much.
Yeah, me neither. I think it's if they, if they're strategizing, they're trying.
Yeah.
I've got a couple. Do you want me to go over a couple more?
I don't want to do 20.
Okay.
I gotta be somewhere tonight.
Okay, got it. Free throws. Go to Walmart. Buy a hundred dollar basketball room. Free throws. Five card draw. That's how I'll stop there.
What's the five card draw is every.
Time they have an MPI and they have an upsell on it, they get a card. End of the day, whoever has the best hand wins. Great.
There you go, Mr. Gonzalez. You're welcome.
Now, you called him Mr. Gonzalez the whole time. What was it that prompted that?
I can't hear. I couldn't hear his first name.
Mark.
Oh, see, I wrote down Art.
I guess we'll find out.
Mr. Gonzalez. We heard that, right?
I think his name was Mark was.
Trying to be safe.
Yeah, you were.
You did well, Mark. Art Gonzalez.
I'm really glad I asked you about it.
