A manager everyone loves might be too permissive, letting staff do whatever they want. Tough managers who set clear structure attract better teams and keep them. Respect beats popularity.

Makes me very, very nervous when I get to a store for the first time is if everybody is just in total love with the manager. Like, oh, the manager is the best thing since sliced bread, whatever. And not all the time, but oftentimes why that makes me so nervous is everybody's kind of allowed to do what they want. And it's an interesting thing where When you get to a store, and this is, I can count on one hand the amount of times this has happened, but every once in a while when there's great leadership, you get to a store and if I ask about the manager, they'll be like, man, he's tough. Like he's super tough. But like, you know, I left here 2 years ago and I came right back because like we got a good team and the, like people are attracted to structure and a good leader provides that structure.
