Do The Hard Things First

Zachary Beach says real estate agents should make prospecting calls first thing in the morning, before anything else. PhoneBurner data shows pick-up rates stay around 15-17% throughout the day, so the real win is just making the calls. Block your morning for your hardest task and protect that time.

Do the hard things first. Hey everybody, this is Zachary Beach, smartrealestatecoach.com. Welcome to another Motivational Monday. The title says it all. It's time for each and every one of us to do the hard things first. It's when we have the most energy. It's when we are the most focused. It's when we have the ability to change our entire day by accomplishing something first thing and getting a major win to propel us moving forward. Now, for most of us in the real estate business, making prospect calls is still the hardest thing. Some of you may be saying, whoa, I'm a seasoned real estate investor. I've been making calls calls for years now. Hey, I am too. I can tell you it is still one of the number one tasks that I have to generate the most energy to do. So I may be able to fall into a rhythm a little bit more quickly and to be able to maybe accomplish these calls even if I had a little less energy than maybe someone was just beginning, but it's still one of the hardest tasks and it's still one of the number one tasks that actually determine Your success in this business is prospecting and bringing in new leads, and then the follow-up system, then moving them through your follow-up funnel. We have a chart and a tool in QLS, the QLS Home Study Course, called the Power of One. That's, that's the number one thing that we need to do day in and day out to reach our goals. This is the place that I would always put the Power of One, or that number one activity, is first thing in the morning. Because I know it changes the rest of the game. So I encourage you to start beginning your day with a major win because it is going to have a major ripple effect across your— the rest of your entire day, entire week, and then eventually your business year over year. The rebuttal always is I don't want to make phone calls first thing in the morning because most people won't answer. If you follow the PhoneBurner blog— PhoneBurner is a, is a big software that allows you to make outgoing calls, and it's a lot more than that, so I don't want to— I probably could do, uh, do it justice right now. But they wrote an article because they've done so much research on this, and they've shown that the There's only a difference in a couple percentage points in the amount of people who actually pick up their phone hour over hour, 9 to 5. The low being 17% of people pick up the phone and the high being 15% of people picking up the phone. Now, maybe for a huge real estate investment company, being extremely focused on the time of day in which 15% of people pick up the phone because there's a difference in about 3 or 4%, it's huge. But for solopreneurs, new real estate investors, or small business owners, that's not gonna make that big of a difference. But I can tell you what's gonna make the biggest difference is you actually putting that into action, making the calls. 'Cause I'd rather have you only be able to get ahold of a couple people first thing in the morning, then to get ahold of nobody in the afternoon because you decided that you weren't gonna make calls because the world beat you up, because you got sidetracked, because you're being pulled in a million other directions, 'cause you have a full-time job, because you have other businesses. I encourage you when you get off of this video to go ahead and set a time block that you're going to stick to for first thing in the morning for making prospect calls, for generating new business. Or maybe you're at the next level in your business, and whatever that next layer, that next high-end task, that next hard task that's going to help you move forward, you block that in as soon as you hop off here.
