Okay. Welcome to this week's Motivational Monday. It's Chris Pre again. I love bringing you guys these little kind of hacks that, that I tend to either read about or use personally or both. And I was in my Calm app. It's one of my meditation apps. I encourage you to get that. Very inexpensive this week. And Jay Shetty, who I tend to follow on some of his— he does like series or, or yeah, like a continuation of training, like for 5 or 6 or 7 days. He did a 7-day one. If you haven't seen it, he talked about all the negative thoughts that, that we all have, right? In fact, you can Google this. I was gonna sit and Google, but every time you do it, you get a different number. But we all have X amount of thoughts per day, and like 90% of them are negative, whether it's conscious or not. So, okay, let's say it's 40,000 thoughts a day or 60,000 thoughts a day, subconscious and conscious. Like, what if 80 or 90% of those are negative? So here's what he said. And then I got some hacks for you and ways to get around different things and do different things and be with different people so that you can start to influence those negative thoughts to be not negative, right? He called it the 3 C's. Catch it. So you catch yourself doing it. Oh shoot, I just did a negative thought. Then check it. Is this something that you can even change? Is it something that's out of your control that you, that you're negative about, but there's nothing you can do about it? Waste of energy. So catch it, check it. And then his third C was change it. I like it. I didn't want to change it. I thought, okay, that's pretty cool. So catch it, check it, do a check. Is this something I can influence or not? If it is, I can change it. Then I can change what I'm saying. I can change what I'm thinking. What are some other hacks? This is what I really want to share with you. What are some other hacks for you to do to be able to get around more positive thoughts so that when you catch it and check it and you go to change it, a lot of that starts to become automatic and all of a sudden you're going to be catching less negative thoughts? Well, I can think of 2 things. One is association, right? Association matters like way more than any of us realize. I can talk about it, I can train on it, I can write about it, but it matters even more than I realize, right? So association, meaning who you hang out with, who you let influence you, who you let in verbally, who you let in by email, who you let in by who you spend time with. These are important, guys, and these are important gut checks. So I'd encourage you this week, starting today, be conscious of who you're letting in. And I mean every way, right? Every doorway that comes to your brain. Is a potential space for negative and you don't need it. You don't need it. I had one of my— look at some of my community members today told me this gentleman she called had a really bad day and he started ranting up and down her sideways. They said, hey, I won't tell you her name. I said, hey, he might have had a bad day, like his wife might have burnt his toast. A child may be hurt or sick. You don't know. Don't take it personally. But I said I would not have stayed on that call. And taking that, that verbal vomit. I wouldn't have taken it. It's like, it sounds like you're having a rough day. I'm going to let you go. That's it. So that's just one example. Now, what are some other ways you can influence what you're thinking about? Reading, right? I'm always on an Audible on the way to and from my office, or if I'm on a walk or run. And then when I'm on the stationary bike, I'm always holding a physical book. And when I'm on the elliptical, I can't hold a physical book, so I'm on an Audible. So at any one time, there's 2 or 3 books being gone through. Why? It's constant, constant feeding, constant hacking of the negativity that tries to seep in our brains. Now, let me caution you, 91% statistically, 91% of books that are bought are not read.
