How You Can LEARN More by Stepping Outside Your COMFORT Zone

Chris Prefontaine says most successful people rarely get asked for help and will respond if you reach out. He's connected community members with Forbes Riley and Peter Taunton, and seen people get free courses and investment opportunities just by asking.

I always question why would somebody that's successful want to spend time with me? I'm not a billionaire by any means. And so I'm going to just speak from my standpoint. I will tell you that, and I've said this on my show, most people, like if you read a book, I've said this many times and you say, ah, that's cool. I'd love to talk to that person, but they probably never want to meet me. They will answer your email and/or have a phone call with you more times than you think. Most authors, speakers, podcast hosts, no one reaches out to them. I'm telling you right now, no one reaches out to them. So don't be afraid to reach out. And when you start getting yeses, yeah, I'll talk to you, you'll, you'll start to be able to expand your comfort zone. You just disrupted it, right? Because you said, I'm in this zone, I don't think they want— you'll expand that and you'll be blown away with what you'll get out of it. Promise you that. So go on my show and go and stretch yourself to say, who are the 3 people I'd like to meet? I'll tell you if they're not touchable. Like some, some I'll know I can't get to, but 98% of 'em I can 'cause I had 'em on the show and I'll hook you up with 'em. And every one of you have different reasons to have someone, right? Could be a real estate person, could be a mindset, whatever. Just pick someone and I'll hook you up with 'em. I hooked Nick up with Dr. Forbes, Forbes Riley, and hopefully she'll be out on our next coming events. That's not an easy person to get in the door. But what, now that we're in the door, I can, I can make introductions. So don't be afraid to do that. And Robert, if that's so far out of your comfort zone, start with Peter Tonton. Judy will tell you, he's humble as— you wouldn't know he's a multi, multi-hundred millionaire.
Chris, the other thing too is that, um, when I first joined the community, you know, about a year ago, I did reach out to somebody on your podcast. I sent them a follow-up email because you always put that stuff in the show notes. And they actually reached back out to me and gave me one of their free courses on commercial real estate investing, like multifamilies. And I ended up doing some multifamily syndication investing with this person.
There you go.
And even like Peter Taunton, I was like, and I think Jessica probably felt the same way, like, oh my God, what am I going to say to him? And stuff like that. But it just, it was very fluid. It was very easy. And it went overtime.
Because they want to help. Robert and Judy felt it. They want to help. Um, I, we don't— I don't get reached out to that much, right? So, um, Nick said, wow, you give some free stuff away. We got a call in the same week from someone who is in Newport but goes to school in Indiana. So he's making calls for us right now. And we got a call from a kid who said, I'm in Newport. I just can't afford the course. Came to our sales team. So he called me up to get the team, said maybe Chris will talk to you. And I said, dude, go through our course for free. This kid's lighting me up like every third day now with deals. That's not why I did it. I did it because he sincerely reached out. He's professional. And I said, take our course. I'll comp it for you. Just take the course. I just want to help him. People will do that for you.
