What Nobody Sees Before A $54,000 Payday

Chris Prefontaine shows how Philip's $54,000 and Channing's $34,000 deals came from months of invisible work: uncomfortable calls, relentless follow-up, and daily coaching. Most people see the payday. Nobody sees the grind that earned it.

Everybody wants to see the wire transfer or the check, right? That's the fun part. Everybody wants to see the closing statement. Everybody wants to hear student got $54,000 payday or student gets a $34,000 payday. Yeah, those are exciting. In fact, I use those numbers specifically because at our most recent Deal Lab, Philip received a wire of over $54,000 sitting in the front row on his very first day, on his first payday. One, that was cool. Literally, he was sitting in the front row in front of me. No surprise there either, by the way, because he sits in the front row every time because he's just a sponge. And he let everybody know when it hit his account. He was sitting there refreshing it. And Channing received over $34,000 on her first deal, on her first payday, the same day as we use National Title, First National Title Company. And we have that that helps most of our students in I don't know how many markets, 30-some-odd markets. And they coordinate all that and they wire them. Absolutely amazing. But here's what almost everyone watching misses. And in the room that day, those checks or the wires, they weren't the victory. They weren't. Those checks were simply the receipt for work nobody saw behind the scenes, for work done behind the scenes on their own, for work following successful traits that we know are proven successful traits of associates. We, we house that document, 7 success traits. They just have to follow them. See, if all you focus on is the money, you're completely missing how those checks or those wires got created. Too many people celebrate that sort of that last 5%, I'll call it. Social media celebrates all the fluff, the closings. Everybody posts pictures holding checks. Everybody talks about the payday. Almost nobody talks about what happened for the previous 30, 60, 90, 120 days. That's where the magic happened. That's the lesson. Those are the coaching moments, and that's when the coaching moments took place specifically. Now, what do I mean by that? Well, uncomfortable seller calls, the follow-up, the tough buyer calls, the coaching calls along the way, the uncertainty day after day, the self-doubt given, the deals that died. Ah, you don't see those. The sales that disappeared. Don't see those. I hear about those. The revisions, the persistence. The many panic calls to their coaches. There's many of those. That's where the deal was actually won. Not at the closing that day. That was cool. See, the deal was built long before that. In fact, that was a day after the closing. Trust me, Philip didn't walk into Deal Lab and magically receive $54,000. Channing didn't wake up one morning and have $34,000 wired into her account. Now they were both new. They only attended a Deal Lab a few months ago. But they earned those wires weeks and months earlier when they picked up the phone, when the sellers, when they picked up the phone asking us for help, when they stayed in the conversation instead of giving up with the sellers and the buyers. Those can be tough sometimes. When they let coaches help structure the deal with them, when they just kept showing up, when they held themselves accountable to me. In their case, they're both working with me now every single night. And reported their numbers and their wins and their challenges for the next day and their questions and what their biggest needle mover is for tomorrow. That's what we do. See, you probably didn't know that took place behind the scenes here. That's when the money was earned. Now, last thought here on this Deal Structure Sunday that's super relevant, I think. You know why most investors stay stuck aside from, in my opinion, Picking the wrong people to run with. Aside from that, mostly want to do the visible work. Not sure where to get started? Go to smartrealestatecoach.com/getgoing for free books, strategy calls, and a whole bunch more. We're going to help you get going the wicked smart way. We've been after this for over a decade doing exactly that. They want the closing because they see that. They want the picture. They want the congrats. They want the Facebook post, but they're unwilling to do The invisible work, or they just didn't realize it was there. 'Cause a lot of the fluff on social media and a lot of the coaches tell you that, oh, it's easy. You know, you just do this and get rich overnight. They also see all the fluff and the crap there. And they think that entrepreneurship is easy. It's not, it's hard, but we can help you navigate this. You know, the repetition, the follow-up, the discipline, the uncomfortableness, that uncomfortable zone, those conversations. The accountability, I keep using that one. Without that, they would've never got to celebrate. And nor will you, frankly. You can with that, with our help, because the, that invisible work that I called it, it always comes before the visible reward. Always. So here's my challenge for you. Stop chasing the money, stop chasing the checks, and start chasing Now here's an idea for you. Start chasing, chasing the right activities. Because if you become the person who consistently does that invisible work, the visible rewards eventually have no choice but to show up. Pretty cool, huh? And remember, these checks they got, I'm just using those 2 because it just happened in a Deal Lab we just got done running. The wire wasn't their victory. It was simply, as I stated at the opening, their receipt. Philip and Channing aren't more talented than you. They simply decided to stop watching and start doing. So the only question is, who's going to be mentioned like this in the next Deal Structure Sunday? Your deal or someone else's? We'll see you next week on the next Deal Structure Sunday.
