In this promotional clip for the Business Scaling Secrets virtual event (April, bizscaling.com), Chris Pree and Zach interview two certified coaches, Chad and another associate, to reveal the most common obstacles new real‑estate agents face and how the Smart Real Estate Coach team helps them overcome these hurdles. The conversation highlights that moving from a solopreneur stage to a $1 million‑plus business requires a different mindset than simply reaching the first million. Key roadblocks identified include mental barriers and lack of confidence, which are addressed through repeated cold‑calling, call critiques, and listening to recorded calls. A second major challenge is time‑blocking and balancing a W‑2 job, family responsibilities, or another business while building a real‑estate practice. The coaches describe practical strategies—structured scheduling, integrating real‑estate activities into existing commitments, and leveraging coaching support—to help agents transition to full‑time, high‑revenue operations. The clip serves both as a teaser for the two‑day virtual event and as actionable advice for aspiring agents.

What gets you, what gets me, what gets anyone in their business to a million dollars is is entirely different than moving from $1 million and up. Now in this quick clip, I just want you to kind of peer over my shoulder where Zach and I were talking to 2 of our certified coaches. It was actually while filming a podcast, and we're gonna talk about what roadblocks they see in their students and how they help them overcome them. Super important nugget for you. And then as a reminder, you're going to get a whole bunch more of this and of them and of other amazing coaches and students in real live in the trenches information by attending the 2-day virtual event Biz Scaling Secrets. Cool.
So about 13 people between the two of you. So you're touching a lot of people. Let's start off with, um, in, in those batches of people, they're presumably new. Most people we, we bring on our new to the real estate world, not all. Um, what are some of the bigger challenges you've seen when they get out of the starting gate? And then, and then maybe we can piggyback that with what we're doing to help that out. And Zach, I'm sure, can chime in.
Well, I mean, I'll start off. I mean, I think the first thing that I, I consistently run into, uh, with new associates is, is just the mental roadblocks that get in their own way. I mean, we give them all the tools, you know, right, that are right in front of them, right? To get over pretty much almost any scenario. And then they have us, of course, to help them if there's nothing there to get them across that hurdle. But more of a, just a confidence thing in the beginning, right? And that just comes with reps and experience. The more calls you make, the more people you talk to, it becomes repetitive over a period of time and that's how you build your confidence, right? And pretty soon everything becomes second nature. So I think that's the main thing that I deal with in the beginning is just building that confidence and getting over, you know, the mental roadblocks.
I think mental roadblocks and reps and experience are certainly something that that's at the forefront. Chad, I'm assuming those are also challenges that you face with your students, but is there anything in addition that you'd say your biggest challenges?
Time blocking, you know, understanding that you've got to— most of my— well, all of my starters have either a W-2 or another business that they're running. And so, they've got to learn how to how to fit this into their schedule, uh, you know, fit it in with their business, fit it in with family. Um, so that's, that's the other big, big thing that we deal with.
All right, so everyone's juggling this, this thing. It's like a big issue with listeners. I know it is. So you guys both juggling family, you both had a job, then you had to transition. I say had to, you chose to transition to full-time. That wasn't easy. And Chad, you even more so with 2 kids and a single dad. I mean, there's a lot going on. So, we always get the question, what if I'm part-time? What if I have family? Okay. You guys are both all over that.
Well, I think, first and foremost, I think it's more of a confidence thing. Confidence goes a long way. And when you're speaking to sellers on the phone, they could read that and they could feel it, right? When you're talking, when you're going over the process and then how you buy, they could feel that If you're confident or not in your process and in your business, you know? And having the answers and knowing how to guide yourself through a conversation with the correct responses really make it a smooth conversation where it makes you— I don't want to say makes you sound confident but you are confident, right? In that case, you know? And going over the scripts multiple times, listening to recorded calls from whether it was our coaches' calls or from past associates. Those really help. Then on top of that, we're critiquing calls too, Zach, that they're making week in and week out. They're sending, I would say, 2 to 3 calls, I would say, per week. And you can kind of gradually see how they're growing every week with the critiques that we're making in those calls week in and week out. I think for me personally, that was the biggest thing that helped me grow at a faster pace. By just making those small tweaks in the conversations and on the phone that I'm having, it makes a big difference and then you get comfortable with it, right? Because you remember it, you're taking action on the changes and pretty soon it becomes second nature and then like I said, that will build your confidence going forward. So critiques, listening to recorded calls from past associates or coaches, Are the— probably the 2 biggest things that help expedite that growth.
