In this boot‑camp style coaching session, Chris Prefontaine introduces Ivan, a seasoned entrepreneur, to a group of aspiring real‑estate professionals. Ivan emphasizes that success is rooted in belief, participation, and heartfelt helping rather than traditional salesmanship or hard‑selling tactics. He engages the audience with interactive hand‑raising exercises to illustrate that most attendees don’t see themselves as natural salespeople, yet they can still excel by focusing on serving clients and connecting from a genuine place. Ivan highlights the value of borrowing mental models from peers—"what would Chris/Zak do?"—to navigate challenges. He stresses the importance of thorough preparation, disciplined lead management, and the principle of short‑term sacrifice for long‑term gain, urging participants to define and review personal life‑goals regularly. Positive thinking, visualization, and consistent daily focus are presented as practical tools to translate belief into action. The session concludes with Chris directing listeners to smartrealestatecoach.com/getgoing for free resources, strategy calls, and further coaching, positioning the program as a decade‑long, proven pathway to real‑estate success.
We are big-time believers in A players on the bus, right? We just talked to you guys about exposure and great players. So Ivan's one of those. He brings a lot to our team, and he's got some cool thoughts. We just thought of this this morning and said we share some thoughts with these guys.
So how's everybody doing?
Good. Thank you. All right.
So yeah, I built a lot of companies and a lot of stuff, and it's all been around who we take care of. That's really what's most important to me. It's not just about growth of a company, but it's about the relationships and the enjoyment you have along the way. Everybody agree?
Yeah.
Yeah. Um, so, only thing I ask is participation. Is that fair?
Yeah.
All right. Who in here feels like they are a great salesperson? Raise your hand. Raise your hand high. Okay, now everybody look around real quick. Maybe a quarter of the room. Okay, who feels like they don't have that salesman, saleswoman gene? Raise your hand and look around. Keep your hands up. Okay, right. This is important. So the majority of the room does not feel like they are salesmen and saleswomen. Is that okay? Yeah, I don't know. I think it's okay. You want to know why I think it's okay? Because the people that just raised their hand that are not salesmen and saleswomen, you like to be sold by a salesman or saleswoman? No, it's not who you connect with, right? So the majority of the room Is not salesman or saleswoman. Is that okay?
Yeah. Yeah.
Is Rick a tough closer? No, he's a nice guy. He speaks from his heart. He's great at what he does. Amazing. But he speaks from his heart and he's helping. So don't think because you're not a closer that you're not going to do amazing. So I hope that it's starting to click for you. Because this is something that you can do no matter how you feel about that approach. You don't— you're helping people. Who had a couple aha moments that we actually are helping people? Yeah.
Yeah.
These are people in tough spots as opposed to giving them lowball offers like everybody else talking about asking price. Nice approach. Helping people on the buyer side, people that could never even qualify, completely changed their life. I mean, that's something special. So this is something that everybody can do, and you're going to connect with different people with a different approach. But when you're coming from a heartfelt place, it's special. It makes a difference. Okay? All right. So sometimes you got to harness a little bit of energy from somebody else, right? You got to think how someone else thinks.
Told you. I see.
Did anybody figure out what that is? What would Chris say or do? There you go. What would Zak say or do? Okay? You can harness your inner Chris or harness your inner Zak, use a little of his humor, right? So you can harness these energies because you're around people that you start to learn from. And if you're ever stuck in a spot, you're like, what would Zak say? What would Chris say? What would Chris do? It's a very simple process that will work amazingly for you. So really take that with you as you're going through these things when you're like, I don't know what to do. Well, all right, well, what would Chris do? Well, Chris would probably do this. Well, you just answered your question. You know, the more time you spend with people that have done this consistently, the more that you can just replicate what they do. Does that make sense? Right. All right. So, um, let's talk about preparation. Who agrees preparation is important? Raise your hand. Right. Who feels like they prepared really well with a bunch of leads coming to this bootcamp? All right. Got one. Okay. Who's saying to themselves that I'm not going to make that mistake again? Okay, great. Okay, it's about learning from these moments and saying, okay, what do I have to do to take action to make something happen for myself, for my family, for my future? Making things a priority. You know, one thing that I've built in my life is short-term sacrifice for long-term gain. Let me explain what that means to me. That means that I have goals for my life. I have goals for my wife, my mom. I have things that are important to me. And sometimes we prioritize things that feel like they're important short-term, but really not. Because they're just busy things that are not getting us to our ultimate goal. Who in here agrees?
Yeah. Yeah.
Okay, great. Short-term sacrifice, long-term gain. That is the name of the game of life. And it's cutting out simple things like watching television or doing stuff that you could put off to another time. I'm talking about like non-forward-thinking things in your life. Like, oh, we were going to go and do this and we were supposed to go do that to get sick. Okay, let's focus on something that's going to get us to our ultimate goal. Sacrifice a little of the short-term fun for Bless you. To get to where you want to be in life. Who thinks that's a great idea? Yes. Super important. Because all of you are doing this for different reasons. No? And you have to think about those reasons. Some of you that were at QLS, and I talked about my why and what's important for me. And you have to know what's important for you. You have to look at those things and write them down and really Just spend some time on those every day. What do I want the next 5 years, 10 years, 15 years, the rest of my life? You know, some of you are doing this for reasons like saying, I'm done with my job. I've worked too hard for too long and I've had it. I'm not living my life. You know that you're not making enough to be able to enjoy your retirement the way you're supposed to, the way you deserve to. It's not about getting by in retirement. It's about loving it, traveling, and doing whatever you want whenever you want without looking at any price tags. And short term, you gotta hustle to get there. And that's why you're here. That's why you took action. I know a lot of you personally, spent a lot of time talking. I know how important it is for you. No one here Wants to leave a legacy for their kids. Big one. But these are important things that you should literally go through and look at every single day. Make your list of all these important things. Because if you look at it every single morning, it gives you a reason why you're going to do the right things that day. It's too important. Too important for you.
Yep.
You can't get busy with everything else that's going on in life. You need to get busy with the stuff that you want to propel you to where you deserve to be in life. Because this is something you can do very successfully. The more time you spend with us, the more time you really absorb and work with us on a regular basis, the more this is going to click. And that's going to in turn Be successful for you. So, you know, if one thing I can impress upon you is that it's worth it to spend the time to really make this happen for you. Now, you can do this. You don't need to be a salesman or saleswoman. Okay? I will do this. No matter what. Yes. Positive thinking, visualization, like we talked about earlier.
