A high school student earning $20,000 a month in sales explains why understanding the purpose behind your pitch matters more than memorizing scripts. He stopped feeling like he was hypnotizing prospects once he grasped what each question was actually for, which boosted his conversion rates and let him work fewer hours.
That was my record month, $20K. Like, I've had smaller months of like $10K. You look younger, right? This facial hair is new. How did that actually translate to your sales calls?
If you can think back, I used to sell realtors back then, especially when they said you're saying things to say things. That's when the entire call just shuts off. Like, they're very, very closed off from the beginning.
What did you actually see from me, if you can remember, that you're like, okay, but I didn't really understand like why I was doing things.
Like, I feel like that's the biggest thing right there is like I knew the word tracks, I knew what to say, but I didn't understand why, like I was saying it. So it didn't really fit like in the context. Of the actual call, if that makes sense. I was just saying words just to say words to close them.
Once you actually started understanding it, what was the immediate difference that you started noticing on your actual sales calls?
I think the biggest thing is like, I just understood like what I was doing in the process. So like it wasn't just like, ask this question, ask this question, ask this question, and you hypnotize them into buying.
Right, your first full month, you hit $20K per month and became the number one person on the team. Yeah, like I've made more money working less hours, right? 'Cause I'm just optimizing my life outside of sales, which is crazy to me.
