A short coaching transcript (Christian Polk) demonstrating how to turn vague client goals like 'freedom' into tangible financial targets. The coach asks clarifying questions about desired passive monthly/yearly income, savings capacity, and explains using a 4% withdrawal rule (divide desired yearly income by 0.04) to calculate required capital. The excerpt emphasizes making goals tangible and assessing current savings ability.

I have a hard time with the tangibles on that call that we listen to. He's like, oh, I want to invest and like, do more for my family. Like, what does freedom actually look like for you? Oh, I don't know, man. I just don't want to have to be as reliant on my job. Okay. No, that makes sense, man. Most people do come to us because they want to get to a point to where, like in the relatively near future that if they stop working, like, they'd be okay for the rest of their life. Is that more along the lines of what you're looking for for freedom? I think. Okay, makes sense. So help me understand. What would you be needing to make more passively each and every month to be comfort just with your lifestyle currently? Would you want to keep at the same level? Maybe a little bit higher? Like, what would you be thinking? In order for you to be able to have like that come in per year, we have to have set aside at least 4% to equal our yearly income that we want. So basically what you do is you take your yearly income you need and you divide it by.04 to get your 4%. Does that make sense? Okay, cool. So it's like right now you need to get to, let's just say 6 million per year. Like how close are you to that and per month? Just right now with how you have everything structured. And again, and there's no wrong answers here. If the answer is none, right, just tell me none, just so I know where you're at. How much are you able to actually set aside each month currently? That does one of two things. Like, number one, it gets you really tangible on the goals. Number two, it gets you really a good understanding of their financial situation.
