A short, informal coaching monologue about defeating resistance to work (procrastination). The speaker recommends isolating and naming the internal negative voice (e.g., calling it a "bitch voice"), caricaturing it with a funny voice to defang it, and removing alternatives by blocking apps and making other options more difficult so that the desired action (e.g., taking sales calls) becomes the easier choice. The piece emphasizes simple, environment-focused behavior change over motivation alone.

What really helps me when I am facing resistance, I'm in a rut, is you want to isolate the voice that is putting you in that rut. Isolate the voice is telling you, don't do it. Just sleep in. No, dude, don't make your calls, right? Be a bitch. Isolate that voice and give it a name for me. I give it, you know, I call it my bitch voice. So that way, anytime I hear that voice, like, I heard it this morning, it's like, bro, no sleep in. It's Monday, right? You had a long weekend. It's like, bro, bitch voice. Like, I immediately identified it. That's what it was. And then if you identify that's what it is, it takes its power out of it. Another thing you could do is you can give it a funny voice. If you have a, like a voice, a cartoon or something in your head that, like, it's just funny to you, it's hard for you to take seriously. Next time you hear like, oh, don't take those calls, just repeat it back in that funny voice and just call it out like, that's my bitch voice talking. That's one way to go ahead and remove the resistance. Another way is just don't give yourself any other options. But what do I mean by that? Remove all other things that you possibly could do. The problem is, especially working from home, owning a business, being a salesperson, whatever it is, is you have so many options and you can justify to yourself why you should be doing all this other shit. Don't give yourself it. Block any, any type of, you know, apps on your phone. Block any type of, like, YouTube, anything, like, on your computer. I would rather you sit there and stare at your fucking computer screen doing absolutely nothing for four hours for the first week. Then you block off those four hours and you go, fuck off. Do something else. Both of those. You're not doing the work you should do, but one of them is at least training the habit of you literally do nothing and stare at the screen. Or you just do your calls. And I promise you, when you. Those are your two options, which one actually seems more painful? Yeah, just doing nothing like that seems more painful. So then you're more likely to just do the fucking calls. It's less. How do I make taking calls less painful? It's like, no, how do I make everything else in my environment more painful than taking the call?
