POV: you end a sales call the moment ego walks in (don't do this)

When a prospect gets defensive or demanding on a sales call, matching their ego kills the deal. Stay calm, refocus on their outcome, and guide them toward a solution instead of arguing back.

Just tell me the fucking price. I don't really care if you're making a million dollars a month, $2 million a month, $100 million a month, that shit doesn't matter to me, bro. Honestly, I'm not even going to give you the price, bro. For one reason, bro.
I'm not even going to give you the price, bro. When somebody walks into the call, they have a bit of an ego. It does need to be addressed. But you don't address somebody having an ego by you just having a giant ego and getting offended. As soon as you allow somebody to really affect, like, you being offended, then your authority goes out the window. And I get what he's saying. He's, well, we value these things. You're showing me you're not valuing those things. But at the end of the day, when you're talking to a prospect, generally speaking as a salesperson, they don't care what you value. They want an outcome that they feel like you're going to help them with. So getting on your high horse and just being offended and having an ego, yes, it might make you feel good in the moment, but over the long haul, it's going to cost you deals. So you're having a problem with somebody hopping on the call with the ego, but you have a giant ego because you just. As soon as you get that pushback, your ego flares up and then you're not even able to overcome it. Shift that belief and get this call back on track and actually overcome and get that person on the right track. You have a problem with their ego and you match it with your giant ego. It just doesn't help you overall. Now, I can understand where this guy is coming from, especially if, like, he does just haven't have a lot of experience in sales or dealing with people with egos that you might feel offended in some way, but these people do not know you. They don't care about you. It would just be like the same way if you're in traffic and somebody cut you off. His response would be mad. Get mad at that person. Tell that person how they're wrong. But the direct response, if you actually want to just live a happier life and get more out of people, is understand that that person did not do something to you. You just happened to be in the car behind them. Right. Like a key example that one of my mentors are said, like, what if that guy in front of you had to take a shit? I'm sure if you really had a poop, you probably cut somebody off. Too. Right. So don't go into calls looking to just sermonize the people. And hopefully, if you're just indignant enough, it's going to get them across the line. Actually use persuasion, actually use sales tactics. Actually get them to open up. Your ego's not helping you in this one.
