Christian Polk ranks sales call tactics from S to F tier. Dad jokes and mirroring a prospect's language both hit S tier. Artificial urgency like "I only have 2 spots left" gets an F. Staying silent after dropping your price lands at C.
Staying silent after price dropping.
This one's a C tier. If you have a tendency to try to oversell people, then it might be more important. But for most people, it's not important at all.
It's either a hell yes or hell no.
F tier. We're just creating resistance that doesn't need to be there.
I only have 2 spots left.
Another F tier. If it is true, you can actually use this, but most people know you're lying. Telling dad jokes. Absolutely. S tier. Dumb dad jokes work every single time to make sales.
Mirroring a prospect's language.
Also S tier. People like people who are like them. So if you use the prospect's language, they see you as part of their tribe.
Being friends with the prospects.
This one's going to be C-tier. If it happens, it happens, but they should see you more as an authority, not a friend.
Telling the price before the pitch.
This one is A-tier. If you know what you're doing, it works really well. The reason why I teach not to do this is because most people have a hard time identifying objections. And if you tell the price at the very top of the pitch, it just makes your objection handling just slightly more complex.
