Watch me handle a partner objection on one of my coaching calls

Christian Polk coaches a client hesitant to enroll in a paid financial program without consulting his spouse. The coach reframes the objection as a stability issue, calculates the daily cost of waiting, and negotiates a split payment: $3,000 now, $3,000 in 30 days.

It's definitely a good amount of money. I definitely need to speak to the, the wife about it. Right.
Can I make a suggestion? Yeah, sure. And do you mind if I'm a bit straightforward? Just because like, dude, I care about you and I just want what's best for you.
Yeah, yeah, that's, that's okay.
Do you feel like Warren Buffett has to talk to his wife about the investments he makes?
No.
The reason why we feel the need to go talk to our partner while we have these rules in place is just because we haven't been smart with our money in the past and, and we're not making the type of money we're looking to be making. Is that pretty fair to say? Yeah.
Yeah, that's fair.
So I have to ask, how would you ever get out of the situation where you feel like you need to talk to your wife? Because we don't have the financial stability in place. If we don't invest in the knowledge to get the financial stability in place, we're going to have a hard time. So I have to ask, like, what if this continues for another three, another six months and we continue to not have these things in place? Debt keeps on piling up and we can't pay off the things we really, truly want to pay off.
Yeah, I mean, it's just gonna take a really, really long time to get to where I wanna be.
And some people are fine with just taking a longer path. Man. So for you, what would be the day to day impact of things going longer?
More. More and more stress. More and more time being spent towards figuring all this out rather than all the things that I wanna do.
Well, do you wanna allow that stress to continue to not only increase for you, but increase for your partner? Because like, ultimately that is a choice.
Yeah, I mean, I mean, no, but.
It'S like again, money is the easy part. The hard part is just you committing to change. Are you actually committed to change?
Yeah, yeah, I am.
What can you do to invest in yourself so that way we can actually get the financial stability and the knowledge in place?
If it was like two, three thousand dollars, I'd be able to like do it right away.
But so if we could, where it's like we split it up to where we don't do it all at once, where it's like we put 3,000 down right now and then 3,000 in 30 days. Is that something we can just go ahead and move forward like right away?
Yeah, I mean, I, I think it could. I still need a right do like.
Do you have the 3,000? You know, you could invest.
Yeah, we would have to take on more debt for it, which I understand, potentially, man.
We can. We can chat about the debt, but it's like, like, what. What are you actually, like, working with that you could invest?
I mean, I. I have about $3,000 that. That I could invest in. It's like, there's more. That's how much I could.
So it's like, if you have 3,000, like, what I'd recommend is just like, let's take that 3,000. Let's get into the program, and. And then in the program, like, what we'll show you to do is like, again, like, how do we budget and then how do we actually take on debt in a smart way so we can make it to where it's like, we're not adding on a bunch to the end, and then we can figure out the rest of the 3K once you're actually in the program, and then we can smartfully plan it out. Do you think that would help you?
Yeah, yeah, it would.
