631 - My word for 2025 -5 MINUTES OF MOMENTUM

In this five‑minute episode of Five Minutes of Momentum, the host shares her practice of selecting a single guiding word for the year. She reflects on years of using annual words, describing how intentional selection has positively shaped her life. While floating in a pool, she contemplates what she does not want and recalls the success of her 2024 word “calibrated.” She decides the 2025 word should embody an experience of abundance—wealth, time, love, connection, fun—and the word that surfaces is “Overflow.” She validates the word through a series of embodied checks: heart, gut (action center), and nervous system, confirming no resistance. The host explains how she uses the word as a North Star to inform decisions, set boundaries, and align business actions. She invites listeners to share their own yearly words via an Instagram Reel, encouraging community engagement and continued momentum.

Are you ready to get started? Let's go. Welcome back to five Minutes of Momentum. Today I'm going to talk to you about choosing a word for the year. I'm not sure whether you've done this before in previous years or whether you're just hearing about it. So I've been choosing a word at the beginning of every year for probably like five years now. And it'd be interesting. Like, when I think back to it, there's been times where I've just like chosen the word randomly. And there's been other times where I've been really intentional about what word I'm choosing. And anytime that I've been really intentional with the word that I've chosen, it has been such a positive impact in my year that I now do it religiously. So there have been times also in the past where I felt like I forced it and like chosen a word. There's other times that like, words have come to me in downloads, like in a meditation, or other times where I've just been out and about doing other things that are outside of my business and had the word come to me. And so when I was doing this with my mastermind group towards the end of the year, so we had a online retreat day and we spoke about like choosing a word for the new year. And some of them were like, yep, I know what my word's gonna be. Others were like, oh, I'm not really sure. I'm kind of like still oscillating on it. And I was like, yeah, I feel like I can't choose it yet. I feel like I actually have to have a break first before I can choose my wor. And there was a day, early January, I can't remember what day it was, but it was before I got back to work and I was floating in the pool by my lonesome, just really enjoying some beautiful music. And it was such a magic day. And I was literally just like floating in the pool and I was thinking about like, what is my word going to be for this year? And I was thinking about what I didn't want it to be. And I thought about what 2024 had been for me and how I'd chosen The word calibrated, and to me, what that had meant to me was calibrated to my next level version of success. And I had taken that time to really intentionally choose my word in 2024. And it was, like, nothing short of miraculous for me last year. Like, it was funny how it all, like, came to, like, a culmination in November, but it was everything that had happened throughout the year to make that possible. And so by stepping into that next level version of myself and of that next level version of success and what that meant for me, I was like, oh, I'm so excited to choose my new word. And so I was like, well, I. What do I want this new word to be? And when I think about what I want my year to be, I want it to be this incredible experience of abundance. And what I mean by that is not just wealth, not just money, but I want an abundance of freedom and abundance, abundance of time and abundance of love and abundance of connection and abundance of fun. And to me, that obviously there's an abundance of money as well. And so then what word came to me was like, what form of does this feel like for me? And for me, the word then became overflow. And so when I think about overflow, I think about the overflow of abundance. So you get to be generous, you get to choose how you want to spend your money. You get to give and have an overflow of love and overflow of connection, overflow of fun, overflow of money. And that felt really good for me. And so I almost, like, integrate it to the point of, like, thinking about it. And then I check in with my heart and like, how does that feel? Does that feel good? Because you really want to make sure that you. Your word is not one that creates more resistance. So that's what I was like, almost like, doing, like, an internal check with of, like, thinking about different words. And what I was. What was coming to mind was like, oh, no, I don't want that because of this, and I don't want that because of this. But then when overflow came to me and I, like, took it down to my heart, space was like, how does overflow feel? And I was like, oh, that feels so delicious. It feels positive and it feels abundant and it feels good because I know what could be possible with an abundance of an overflow. And so I was like, also thinking about, like, how it can be with choosing, like, an abundance of clients and abundance of opportunities and abundance of joy. Like, all of the things, like, it all felt really good. And I was like, oh, yeah, that feels really good. So into my heart. It feels good. And then I took it further down into my gut area, which is where our action center is and where we check in with our identity and it becomes part of who we are. I was like, how does that now word feel in my gut? I was like, oh, overflow. It feels abundant. As an abundant levels of action. It feels actionable. It feels exciting. And I was like, oh, yep, perfect. This is my word. This is absolutely my word. And then I took it to my nervous system because I do these full body checks. And so I've learned this through embraining. And we have multiple neural networks in our body other than our brains. We have our heart, we have our head, we have our gut, we have our nervous system, and we have our sexual organs, what we birth things through. And so then I thought about with my nervous system, like, where does that. How does that feel? How does overflow feel for my nervous system? And there was no resistance. And I was like, oh, my gosh, that feels so good. Because 2024, I had a lot of resistance to expanding my capacity for more. And so I did a lot of work on that towards the end of 2024. And so it was so nice to be, like, taking that word through my body and being like, yeah, my body was like, yeah, we're ready for this. We're ready for this. Overflow. And so that's my word for 2024. Now, the other thing I want to highlight here as I share this with you, is how I utilize the words throughout the year. So whenever I choose my word, I use it almost as my North Star, as my check in to be like, okay, are we getting closer to what this means for us? And so it helps me make decisions. It helps me really choose where I want to go. It helps me. It gives me direction. Because if your word isn't being your North Star, or at least a standard razor, or something that ignites something within you, then it's probably not the right word for you. You want it to be something that ignites something within you. And when it ignites something within you, you're more likely to uphold that standard, to uphold that boundary with yourself. So with calibrated this year, I would have moments where I would, like, be in fear of taking an action or doing something, and I would be like, hang on a minute. If I was fully calibrated to the next level version of myself, what decision would I make here? And it helps me make the decision. And so that's what I also want for overflow of like this. Will this get me closer to overflow? And so that's going to help serve me with making decisions and choosing boundaries and putting things in place with my business. So I hope that you have chosen a word. I'd love to hear what your word is. So make sure that you jump on to maybe jump on my Instagram reel. I put up a reel about my word for the year, Overflow. Jump on there and let me know what your word is. I'd love to hear from you. Otherwise, have an incredible rest of your day.
