639 - YOU'RE NOT STUCK - YOU'RE EVOLVING - 5 Minutes of Momentum

Christine Corcoran says feeling stuck in your business usually means you're growing faster than you're developing. When frustration hits, look at what needs to change: your pricing, systems, who you serve, or how you spend time. One client hesitated to upgrade a $40 tool to $120 because it felt expensive, but better systems let you lead instead of react.

Are you ready to get started? Let's go. Welcome back to five Minutes of Momentum. If you've been feeling a little stuck lately, I want to challenge challenge you to think that maybe you're actually not stuck. Maybe you're evolving and the frustration or the stuckness that you're feeling is actually showing you where you need to evolve. And so maybe you are holding yourself back because of the stuckness feeling, thinking that you're stuck or thinking that you need to just change everything or burn everything down. But what I want to encourage you to see here is that actually this stuff shows up for us when we're growing and when we're expanding, but we just don't feel like we're ready for it. We don't want to, like, almost like we're creating resistance around the change. So we're like holding on to everything, almost like we're tight white knuckles. And instead of actually looking at everything from a different perspective and taking a bird's eye view to be like, hey, why am I feeling like this and what's causing me to feel like this? And how can I make some changes to support the growth of where I want to take my business? This can also show up when we feel like we're failing. We feel like things suck and we're like, well, hang on a minute. What is it? Is it me? I want you to know it's probably not you. It's probably not you. I'm saying probably because I can't say it's not you because there's probably some mindset stuff going on there that might be you, but there's definitely some elements of business growth that happens that I think we just don't talk about enough, that it feels like you're winging it, it feels like you're super stuck. It feels like you're frustrated or feel like you're failing and nothing is working. And yet sometimes it feels like it's the darkest before the dawn when you start to actually break through. So rather than perceive that you're stuck, I want you to have the perspective that maybe you're evolving and your business is evolving, the market is evolving, and that means you need to evolve. So your business requires you to evolve. And rather than just working harder, I want you to think about how you've been evolving yourself over the past 12 months. Maybe you've been through some forced growth. Maybe you have actually held back from growing. And maybe you've been so stuck in the weeds and stuck in doing all the things that maybe you haven't actually allowed yourself to go, well, hang on a minute. Where should I be growing? Or how could I be developing myself to support my growth? And then we want to look at, where's the resistance? Like, where's the stuck feeling? Is it your business model? Is it your pricing? Is it the clients that you're working with? Is it where you're spending your time? Are you actually holding on to elements of your business that maybe you shouldn't be doing anymore? Maybe that's why you're stuck. Maybe you actually need to improve systems and strategies within your business in order for you to grow, in order for you to expand, and those frustrations will go away. And so sometimes what is happening is the business is growing, but you haven't grown with it. And so we need to look at it and go, well, hang on a minute. Okay, what is working for me now? So I remember having a conversation with a client about this recently, and we realized that she was holding onto this, this fear of like, oh, but if I go and invest in this system or if I go and invest in this subscription here, it's just another subscription. I'm always paying more. And I was like, yeah, but look at your growth. Look at the profit that you've had over the last six to 12 months. You haven't updated your systems. And so she's getting frustrated because certain things weren't working and she, in the new system that she had, doesn't have the capability that she wants it to. And I'm like, yeah, but what are you actually paying for it? So rather than holding on to this thing that's only costing you $40 a month, maybe you should be spending $120 a month and getting the better system. Because where you want to take your business, it's going to need to have all those extra cap. But yet we get so stuck in our own stuff that we don't see that. And because it's slow, like it's the day to day, the week to week, sometimes we don't take the time to look back and reflect and actually go, well, hang on a minute. Based on the growth of my business, what systems do I need? What procedures do I need to put in place. What support do I need? Right. So many times we try to do it all ourselves instead of actually going, well, hang on a minute. No, I've grown. The business has grown. It's time to expand in other areas, too. And that's where you need to step into your CEO mindset and start leading instead of just following and reacting. If you want to feel better within your business, you've got to choose how you want to feel and then set the business up to support that. It's not the other way around. If you're stuck reacting to everything that's happening in your business, then you're not actually leading at all. You're just reacting. You're putting out fires. You're just responding to what's happening instead of actually being proactive to be like, hey, this is the experience that I want to have. This is my zone of genius. This is where I want to spend my time, and what do I need to support that? The more you can do that, the more it'll allow you to step into that evolution and feel better about what it is that you're creating. I hope this serves you, and I hope you have an incredible rest of your day.
