718 I went against my own advice and it tanked my launch

In this episode of the Next Level Life podcast, host Christine Corcoran shares a personal story about how she abandoned her own proven sales strategy in favor of a trendy launch method she saw online, resulting in a failed launch. She begins by warning listeners about over‑reliance on AI tools like ChatGPT, urging them to trust their own expertise. She then explains the "shiny‑object syndrome" that led her to skip a structured sales system—lead generation, nurture, and conversion—during the launch, which caused it to tank. Christine outlines the three‑step funnel she normally uses, emphasizing the importance of a lead magnet (her free "Consistent 10K Method" guide), an accelerator program that nurtures prospects, and the "Unstoppable Sales" offer that converts them. She recounts how she pivoted after the failure by re‑introducing a webinar, personal outreach, and old‑school messaging, which salvaged the launch. Throughout, she stresses that webinars, challenges, and events still work when paired with a solid sales process, and she encourages listeners to share their own shiny‑object failures. The episode ends with a call to action to download the lead magnet, join her Instagram community, and apply the outlined sales system to future launches.

I want to share with you something a little bit vulnerable today and I want to share it with you from a place of the lesson that I learned through this. Because we can get so caught up in comparing ourselves to other people or looking to others for the answers, or just noticing what other people are doing online, or even getting caught up in a chatgpt kind of spiral where you are believing it over your own thoughts. I'm just going to say it like with AI at the moment. I was saying this to a client recently, like if you feel like you are losing your voice or if you feel like you are losing your thoughts and your IP because you always go back to ChatGPT to get better answers or to get more ideas, then I implore you to take a break from ChatGPT and just sit with your own thoughts. I do this regularly with the podcast because sometimes I'll just go, oh, I've got no ideas of what to post to put, what to put on the pod. So I'll jump into chat and be like, what are some ideas? And I hate them all. I always hate them all. And I always come back to what are my clients experiencing at the moment? What are the biggest challenges they're having? What conversations am I having online? What am I really passionate about at the moment? And usually that's when I'll go back to, okay, what's, you know, some really cool topics that I want to talk on. Then I take that to ChatGPT and be like, cool, turn these into podcast titles. And then I go and create the pods and sometimes I'll even ask it to create like the topics or the show notes for the episodes. And I usually do the same thing. I hate them. I hate them. And I might take one or two things, but Then I always come back to my own thoughts and I would implore you to do the same. And even when I did, like an upgrade to one of my online programs, I was like, you know, I could have easily gone to ChatGPT for the breakdown of what I should cover, but I needed to sit within my own expertise and be like, what do I want to cover? What are the steps? What would I go through first before using AI? And I think that some people are getting so confused and overwhelmed with it that they're missing out on their own goodness and their own expertise and they're getting so reliant on ChatGPT. So that was a little bit of a side note. It's not what I wanted to talk about, but I do want to talk about the comparison piece. I got caught up in a little comparison spiral and I was seeing what other people were doing online. This was earlier this year, and I stepped away from taking my own advice when it comes to sales strategy. And I followed this trend and I went and tried to do a launch in a way that was different to how I normally do a launch, and it completely tanked my launch. And I think sometimes we do this if we're not privy to the whole piece. Like, I didn't really, I don't know behind the scenes of what this person was doing with the full funnel, right? So she might have had other things in place in order for it to work for her, but I was like, oh, that's a cool idea. Maybe I'll go do a launch like that. And I did. And it sucked. Sucked balls. And what I want to say is that I. The reason the piece of advice, I guess what I want to come back to, the piece of advice and my own advice that I went against was that I didn't put a sales system into my launch and that impacted my launch massively and it tanked it. It didn't go well. And then I ended up having to pivot and change things up and I had to turn it around. And so when I think about live launching and doing anything online, any type of bringing a new service offering, or bringing any type of service offering to the world, you really want to think of your basic sales strategy to begin with. One, what's your lead generation strategy way before you're going to launch something, what's your nurture strategy and what's your conversion strategy? So a webinar or a masterclass, a challenge, something, a workshop, anything, something that allows someone to opt in and say, I'm interested in this topic. In this concept, in what it is that you're talking about in order for them to show interest. So then you're actually selling to the right people, not to everyone makes such a big difference. Plus if you then have a leads list, right? So you can take people who you've, you've taken through the lead generation strategy and you've got all these people that are showing a form of interest in what it is that you do and then you invite them to the sales system, they are much warmer and more likely to convert than just across content or just, you know, showing up on your social, social media stories. Right? So I went against my own advice and didn't do a sales system and it tanked my launch and I regretted it. And then I then the launch afterwards I went back to my own advice and things went really, really well. So I want you to think about what is your sales system and are you implementing one? Because if you are not hitting the results that you really want to hit within your business, it's most likely because we don't have that sales strategy built out. Your lead generation, your nurture, because they do different things, right? Let me just highlight it. Your lead generation is giving someone value without asking them to spend much time and to spend no money with you, right? When we're missing a lot of that within our business. And I see this a lot because people get so caught up in running their business that they forget like oh, do I, do I need a lead magnet? What was my last lead magnet? What am I even giving? And so you're just using content to nurture instead of actually giving people value. So I've been working on lots of different lead magnets behind the scenes. So I've got a new one out at the moment which is called the consistent 10K method. And it's a really impactful, really detailed guide to help you create consistent income in your business. How to build out your high ticket offer, your pricing strategy and your sales strategy and your sales activities in order for you to hit 10k months. That's free. That's in my show notes right now. Go check it out. If you want access to that, then I have my accelerator, right? So I run an accelerator this month which is all about predictable 10k months. Similar topic because I help people with this and I built out, help people build out a game plan across three days, right? So where they get more access to me, it's asking them to spend more time. So. And it's still free, but it's nurturing, right? It's different to the lead lead generation. So lead generation is gaining interest and it is helping people put their hand up and be like, yes, actually have an interest to that, inviting them to then the sales system where the accelerator, even though it adds so so much value, it's still not enough time in order for me to necessarily give them the full outcome. Right. I know that people are going to need more time to implement the strategies. They're going to need more support, more accountability. And so then I sell and I offer them something to work on with me next, right? So they offer them to join me in unstoppable sales. And so that's really selling to interested people. So I'm not just selling to the masses and hoping that pray and praying that someone sees my piece of content and takes them down the nurture sequence to make a decision to buy that's part of the accelerator. So I'm still adding heaps and heaps of value and then I'm taking people through a decision making process, right? So that works in whatever shape or form that is whether it's in an event, whether it is an email sequence, whether it is a workshop, a masterclass, whether it is a demonstration. It's having something that is designed for interested people to be guided through the offer and guided through how it's a right fit for them, guided through the decision making process, overcoming objections and getting their buy in and commitment to the next step. Right. So if you don't have that built in, then you most likely are not hitting the goals that you really want to hit. And I know people are talking about like webinars are dead. They're not fucking dead, they're fucking working still. And it's just the nuance of it and making sure that you're updating your sales messaging. Because people have been burnt in the past by joining webinars and they were just a full sales pitch. Don't do that anymore. Add value. Make people see the value of working with you. And so it was this part, it was so interesting because I remember like going down this avenue of doing this other process and it was just all on social media and it was using close friends list and it was using a, what's it called? Broadcast channel. And with the broadcast channel I can see who the members are, but it was very passive. So it was very like output and no response. And when it comes to sales you need to have a conversation and needs to be back and forth. And so I remember giving so much value and being like that sucked. It didn't Work, right? And so I was like, it completely tanked my launch and I was so upset about it, but I was like, okay, what am I going to do about it? So then I ended up launching a new webinar and then the webinar went well and I had great people. And then I also went back to old school ways of like messaging people and connecting with people and seeing if they need what is that I have to offer in order for the launch to still work. It wasn't the numbers that I wanted, but it still turned out okay. And so being okay with pivoting is so important. But stick to what works. Like at the end of the day, launching still works, webinars still work, challenges still work, events still work. As long as you have some type of sales process in place to support the customer, to be nurtured through the decision making process, right? And please do not forget the lead generation. It's one of those things that I think that people just get so caught up in being busy that they forget. Like people don't know how valuable it is to work with you until you give them something, to see it and to feel it and experience it. So think about how you can help people, right? Add value, give people quick wins, give. Solve a problem for them that you're not asking them to pay you for. And the people who are doing that above and beyond are the ones that are winning in this game right now. The people who are giving up on their businesses is because they haven't put those things in place honestly. And you've got to make sure that you're selling people what they want and making sure that you're nurturing them and listening to people. People are needing more support through the decision making process, more conversations, more touch points. And the people who are finding that's really hard are the people who are not putting things in place. So learn from my mistakes. Make sure that you have a sales system in place. If you're going to do a live launch, make sure that you are building sales process into your systems of whatever you're doing within your business in order to take people from lead generation through nurture, through harvest is what I call it, or through conversion, another way to put it right. There needs to be a plan in place, otherwise you're going to find it very hard to hit your goals. All right. I hope that you like this episode. I felt like I really wanted to share this because it was something that happened earlier this year and I was like, oh, so dumb. Why did I, why did I do that why did I get caught up in the shiny thing syndrome and do this thing and then realize what have I done? I know what I'm doing. Go back to what you know know that works. And also, I would love to hear from you if you have tried something that you've seen someone else do online or you got caught up in the shiny things syndrome, tell me what you did. I want to learn from you too. So feel free to send me a DM on Instagram and tell me what's something that you tried that didn't work? Because we've all got to learn from each other. If we don't share it, we don't know. So share it with me and I hope you have an incredible rest of your week. Thank you for listening.
