Hey everyone, this is self made Millennial. I'm Madeline Mann and today I am knee deep on the interwebs to bring you three browser and email plugins to improve your job search. Now this will make things more efficient as well as the third one actually gives you information on whether or not the company is interested in you as a candidate. Now I will say that none of these three are sponsoring me. I am just simply a fan girl. The first browser plugin is a tab manager. Now if you're the type of person who when you're in a job search, you have as many tabs in on your browser as rats have babies, then this plugin is for you.
I use one tab to keep track of all the tabs I use when I am job searching. So you're probably doing a lot of research on a certain company that you have an upcoming interview for. And in order to keep track of all of them, you can just close it and hit one tab.
Just like that. All of your tabs are saved so that right before you go in for the interview you can get a quick refresher. Then you're probably also saving a lot of job descriptions that you didn't have time to apply to. So you can hit restore.
And then you're ready to jump in and apply to these roles. And this really makes your computer go a lot faster so you don't have a million tabs open and helps you stay organized. It also allows you to label things like the important things like cat memes. Let's restore all these with one tab. All of your favorite cat memes are only one click away.
Nope. Madeline, focus. Anyways, the second plugin to have is template emails. Oh my God, this is going to save you so much time. I mean, you should personalize each email you send, but that doesn't mean you need to start from scratch for each one.
Now, there's a lot of different ways you can enable your email to have templates. I have Gmail, so it's pretty easy. I just go to Settings, then I go to Advanced and right there at the top is the option have canned responses or templates and so make sure to enable it, then get it all loaded up with templates. You just go here and canned responses, Boom, boom, boom. The best news ever is I've already written a lot of these templates for you. You can find a lot of templates of emails you should send during the job search in previous videos that I've filmed, such as the Ultimate Email to send your network when you're searching for jobs to get them to bring you opportunities. The two emails you've got to send right after you apply for a job online. The perfect way to follow up after a job interview. And the way to send a thank you email, which is included with four other really great tips that help you get an edge in the interview. So just pick your template, pop it in there, make sure you customize it where needed, and shoot that off. Save yourself hours.
The third browser plugin to use is Track email opens. Now, email opens can tell a story of their own. Depending on how many times they're opening your emails, that can mean something different. And so I'm going to tell you how to approach it depending on how much they're interacting with your email.
So I use Streak for free to track my email opens. It does a lot of other stuff, but I use it to track email opens specifically. Now, the magical thing about email tracking is it actually gives you key information about how interested a company is in you. Now, the way to interpret the views is take a look. This email got zero views. Now, that generally means one of two things. The first thing is maybe you titled it something where it made them think that it was kind of a spammy email and they just got rid of it without even reading the contents. Or it could literally have gone to their spam folder to where they didn't ever see it and missed their inbox. If you send an email and it does get zero views, then my advice is to first take a look at your subject line and see if you can revise it to be something a little bit more engaging. Or try to contact them in a different way because you might be being filtered out of their inbox automatically. So maybe hit them up on LinkedIn or another social media. Now you might have an email where it has one view and then it's never viewed again days later. Now, if you have an email that has only been viewed once, that to me says that they opened the email, they read it and they weren't very interested. And if that happened, that means that maybe that what you are offering is not something that they are looking for at this time. The other alternative is maybe your, your subject line was appealing enough for them to open it, but once they read the contents, it just didn't really grab them. So what I would say is edit your email, edit the contents of it, send it one more time, and if you still are not getting the engagement or the responses that you hope for, then just move on. Finally, if you send an email and you get two or more views on it. That is great. That means you're doing something interesting enough for them to want to come back. Now they still might not respond to you. So this is where the follow up email is really important. Send up to three follow up emails. If those emails are continuing to get views, then potentially, I mean on the third one it's happened where they finally respond. It's all about timing people.
I'll put links to all of these sweet tools in the description and if you could please hit a like on.
