Hi, it's Robin Sharma. I hope you're great. This is going to be an exceedingly valuable video for you if you're going through a lot of change. Also if you're interested in becoming an empire maker, also if you're interested in dominating your domain as a creative and a producer who leads the field by doing your masterwork, well, I'm going to get right into it. So for a quarter of a century I've been working with leadership teams of companies like Starbucks and FedEx, Oracle, Barrick Gold, organizations like NASA, YPO, which is young Presidents Organization. I've been the personal mentor to a lot of celebrity billionaires and titans of industry and I've worked with NBA superstars and film stars and members of royalty. So I wanted to walk you through in as clear a way as possible the philosophies and tactics of the most successful people I've ever worked with. And I'm going to get right into them. The first one is you've got to have a mighty mission that is much larger than yourself. What often happens is.
We don't have a central purpose that electrifies our spirit. And so whether it's a startup, whether it's a non profit, whether it's a screenplay, whether it's a book, whether it's an online company, whatever it is, you've got to know your mighty mission. And then you've got to think about it, consider it, be so excited by it.
That your mission becomes an obsession that eventually grows into a movement. And with all the super, I should say, ultra successful people I've ever worked with, they are so clear on their mission. Because clarity breeds mastery and vague plans, vague goals lead to vague results. Related to that part time commitment always delivers part time results. So you've got to go absolutely all in. How do you find your mission? Well, you, you explore, you know, you consider what things make you feel happy. You ask yourself, what are my strengths? You ask yourself, what things do I do that when I do them? It doesn't feel like work. Another key thing to ask yourself, it's a very powerful question. What value is needed in my marketplace that no other peer or competitor is currently delivering? And then how can I deliver that as elegantly as possible? Second thing the superstars all do is they don't care at all about what anyone else thinks. So you can be liked or you can impact society. You don't get to do both. So that's that that requires maturity, requires practice, it requires visualization, it requires spending time with the heavyweights by reading their books or, you know, whatever the associate the association is. But the more you can get really clear on your mighty mission and then you don't really care about what other people think it's going to do, you know, be incredibly valuable for you. Number three, the best of the best, the ones I've worked with, they just. Nothing is ever enough. And I'm not saying that's the healthiest thing. I'm just reporting reality. You know, they always want to be improving. They always, they never stop making everything they touch better and leaving everyone they meet better than they found them. They are literally obsessed with originality and excellence and relentless optimization of everything they do, whether it's their products, whether it's their business, whether it's their health, whether it's their family life, whether it's their lifestyle. I think we're at number four. I'm just going off the top of my head. But number four is they love to learn. I remember being in the home of a billionaire and he said, you know, you want to. After dinner, the first thing he said is, would you like to see my library? He was so proud of his library. And so, you know, ordinary producers have big TVs and big satellite dishes and the best of the best in business, in the sciences and the humanities, in terms of movement making, they have huge libraries. And I guess what I'm saying is education is inoculation against disruption and the leader who learns the most wins. You can learn anything you need to learn through a book. I mean, a book alone. What an incredible investment. You know, for 20 or $30 you can get into the minds of the world's greatest people and see exactly how they did it. If you read the right book, the hand that puts down that book is fundamentally a different hand. What else?
You know, they're relentless. I use that term, relentless. And I think it's important. The people I've worked with who are on these mighty missions, they just get knocked down. It's like the Japanese. The Japanese proverb says, get knocked down eight times, get up nine. And I just think, you know, these people get attacked, they get laughed at, they feel like giving up, they get faced by self doubt and they just keep on going. It's Benjamin Disraeli, the former British Prime Minister said, you know, success lies in a constancy of purpose. And it is stunning what happens if you just simply refuse to lose and you stay in the ring longer than anyone thinks. You have a right to stay in the ring, you know, and you sort of outlive your peers, imagine how great you'll be and imagine the impact you'll have. Final thing I'd say is the best of the best. They really want to deliver value. They're obsessed with delivering value to as many people as possible. And if you deliver really great value, beautiful products and service, masterwork, Sistine Chapel, ceiling level goods to the world, then the world is going to fall in love with you do and they're going to be your viral marketing team and help you build a globally cherished brand.
