Robin Sharma records a short video blog from Zurich airport where he uses Switzerland’s well-known efficiency as a backdrop to argue that a good life and effective leadership require balancing orderly efficiency with present-moment spontaneity. He advises using planning as a springboard so that, once organized, one can make space for creativity and being in the moment.

Hi, it's Robin Sharma and I'm here in Zurich, Switzerland. I want to show you the view of this beautiful Swiss city from the airport here. I'm just getting ready to catch a flight to Mumbai and you can see one of the Swiss airplanes out there. It's a beautiful city. Zurich is. And I don't know if you can see this, but the mountains, the Alps are absolutely magnificent and the sun is just starting to come up. And what I wanted to share with you today in the video blog is really the importance of balancing spontaneity with efficiency. I'm in Switzerland, a country in a nation that's known for remarkable levels of efficiency and just order. And I think a great life, a life well lived in leadership, is in many ways balancing that tension between being remarkably efficient and and yet also being in the present and being spontaneous. Someone once said, let planning be your springboard. So spontaneity can be your splash. And I think it's really important to balance being efficient, being well organized, and yet once you've done that, also making room for creativity, for spontaneity and for being in the moment. So, like so much of life and so much of leadership, it's all about a balance, spontaneity and efficiency as well. Greetings from Zurich. Bye.
