Everything That Happens To You Happens For You

Myron Golden delivers a recorded Bible study centered on David's experience at Ziklag (Amalekite raid) to teach persistence, faith, and recovery. He emphasizes 'pursue, for thou shalt surely overtake them,' explains sowing-and-reaping timing, uses covenant examples (Abram) and personal anecdotes to encourage perseverance; includes cultural and moral commentary applying scripture to modern issues.

Good morning, YouTube. This is Myron golden coming to you with a recorded Bible study. It's a follow up from the one from last Wednesday. We're going to finish the story about David when he was in the comfort zone and.
He was working for Achish, the king of the Philistines, and he wanted to go to battle against Israel, but the princes of the Philistines talked to the king and said, no way, bruh. No way, Jose. This dude is not going with us today. Because, like, what if he gets out there in the battle and he decides to switch sides? Isn't this the same David who they sang, David, Salayaan is thousands and David is tens of thousands. He ain't coming. So Achish said, david, just go back to Ziklag, that little village that I gave you to rule over, and you can come fight us with fight in the next battle. David gets back to Ziklag and is burned to the ground. And so his men almost have a mutiny. They cry their eyes out, they're ready to stone David. And. And then David prays and asks God, should we pursue after this troop? By the way, we talked about the fact that the enemy wants to steal your faith. He wants to steal your family, he wants to steal your future, he wants to steal your fight. And it almost worked. And I know all of us have felt that way sometimes. I know I felt that way sometimes. I felt like I didn't have any more fight left. I felt like I didn't have enough faith left. I don't know if you've ever been there. And I felt like I didn't know if I was going to be able to be. And this may sound odd to some people, but I didn't know if I was going to be able to be that good man who leaves an inheritance to his children's children because, like, there was a time in the not so distant past when everything that I had worked to build just kind of collapsed around me. And. But disruption always follows intention. That's a pattern. And as long as we're aware of the pattern, we don't have to become discouraged when the disruption follows our intention. So what happened next is David prayed, said, should we pursue after this troop, will we overtake them and will we recover our stuff? And God said, no doubt. In fact, I'm going to read it to you. In verse eight, it says, david inquired of the Lord, saying, shall I pursue after this troop? Shall I overtake them? And he answered him, pursue, for thou shalt surely overtake them. And without Fail, recover, all. It's really interesting how this story parallels with so many situations that we find ourselves in life. We find ourselves in. In life. And parallels with the fact that the scripture says in John 10:10, the thief cometh not but for to steal, to kill, and to destroy. But I am come that you might have life and that you might have it more abundantly. And we know that the enemy wants to steal, kill, and destroy. We know that the enemy wants us sick, broke, misinformed, and fearful. Just like the world system that he set up, the world cosmos that he set up. He wants us to be sick, broke, misinformed, and fearful. And that's how Satan wants us to live. And now David finds himself in this situation like you found yourself in a situation, like I found myself in a situation and in the past. And. And then we like, should I even. Should I even. Should I even try to do this again? And maybe some of you are right now, like, like sitting on the floor crying your eyes out at the end of a failed business or at the end of a failed marriage or at the end of a broken relationship or being fired from your job or bad news from the doctor or. Or some kind of internal family conflict. But whatever it is, is. Is. Is a worthwhile life. Is your anointing worth pursuing? Is your family worth pursuing? Is your calling worth pursuing after you fall down so far, you're not sure if you can ever get back up? And I submit to you 100%, just like God told David in this story, pursue. He said, go. Okay, so he said.
Pursue, for thou shalt surely overtake them. He didn't say pursue. You might overtake him. He said, you will surely overtake him. When you understand if you have. If you have more persistence than your trouble, your trouble will eventually lose. Like you have to. You have to just decide. Like my dad told me when I was a little boy and we were working on this engine and I was in elementary school, and we were trying to take this exhaust manifold off this engine. It had a rusted bolt. We tried for hours. Literally for hours. We started in the morning. This bolt. We got all the bolts out. This one bolt won't come out. And it's lunchtime. My mom calls in for lunch. We're working this old raggedy car in our backyard. And I said, dad, it's not. The bolt's not going to come off. He said, oh, it's going to come off. He said, it don't have a choice.
I said, oh. He said, you know why I don't have a choice, son. I said, no, sir. He said, because it don't have a brain and we have a brain, so it's going to come off. I was like, wow, it don't have a brain and we have a brain. It's going to come off. And that gave me something. I don't know, it just gave me something inside myself that let me know if I'm working on something that doesn't have a brain, it can't beat me, right? And so he said, yes, pursue, you will no doubt overtake them. Like, stop pursuing your dreams with one foot on the gas and one foot on the brake, worrying about how it's going to turn out. And let us not be weary in well doing, for in due season we shall reap if we faint not. You know, a lot of people use this verse incorrectly. You've heard the verse before, be not deceived. God is not mocked. For whatsoever man soweth, that shall he also reap. People always use that verse like, if you sow bad seed, it's going to come back to haunt you. That's not the context of that verse. The context, the context of that verse is when you sow good seed, it's going to come back to bless you, right? So don't be deceived. God's not mocked. Whatsoever man soweth, that shall he also reap. And here's the interesting thing about the law of sowing and reaping. Number one, you reap what you sow, you reap what you sow. Number two, you reap later than you sow. And a lot of people give up sowing the seed because they don't reap when they sow. God didn't say you reap when you sow. He said you reap what you sow. But not only that, not only do you reap later than you sow, you also reap more than you sow. Because when you plant a seed, the seed doesn't grow another seed, the seed grows a tree. And I love what Warren Wiersbe said. It's one of my favorite quotes of all times. He said, any fool can count the number of seeds in an apple, but only God can count the number of apples in a seed.
Yes, you will no doubt overtake them. Yes, pursue, for thou shalt surely overtake them. And without fail, without fail, you will recover all. What's God saying? He's saying to David, go get your stuff.
We live in a time where the enemy is coming in like a flood. Where, where, where the Drug and alcohol culture want to come and rob us of, rob our family members of vitality and life. Where, where the, where the, the evil media empires, they want to destroy free speech. And the enemy's coming in like a flood. And so many people are afraid to speak up. And, and, and the homosexual, the homosexual.
Community is like, fighting harder for our children than we are for our children.
They will speak up and act as if we don't even have a right to teach our children what we believe is right, but they have a right to teach our children what we believe is wrong. And I'm not talking about hating somebody. I'm just talking about, like, these are our children. Our who? The people, the men and the women who got together to have those babies.
And we're just going to, like, abdicate our responsibility as parents and say, hey, like, yeah, we're. Do you understand the danger, do you understand the danger of being silent about this issue of homosexuality? By the way, I don't think you should hate homosexuals. I don't think you should hate anybody. I don't think you should hate homosexuals. I don't think you should hate harlots. I don't think you should hate drunks. I don't think you should hate drug addicts. But I still think all of that stuff is wrong. There's that part.
And it's. People say, well, why do Christians always have to be all up in arms about homosexuality? You're not like that about. Because other, those other things are not saying we don't have the right to teach our children it's wrong. Like, fornication is wrong. Right. What's the difference between fornication, homosexuality? Well, one difference is fornication. Fornicators haven't started a campaign to program our children that fornication is right.
And also a campaign to keep us from teaching them that it's wrong. That's the difference. They're both wrong. Fornication is wrong. Homosexuality is wrong. In fact, homosexuality is a form of fornication. It's wrong. But the reality is, the reality is God is the ultimate determiner of right and wrong. Why is it wrong? Because God says it's wrong. And if that's not a reason, hear me now when I say this. There is no reason. And for those of you who want to argue that point, wait until your children grow up to be adults, your son and your daughter grow up to be adults in the world that we're living in now, because I promise you, this is where it's headed. And they come to you and say, hey, mom and dad, me and my sister are gonna go. We're gonna go move in together. Okay, well, cool. Y' all go get an apartment. No, that's not what we mean. We're gonna go move in together. Like, she's gonna be my girl. I'm gonna be. That's your sister, bro. Yeah, I know, but we're consenting adults. And I know some of you are thinking, well, Myron, that doesn't make any sense. Why. Why is that wrong? For the same reason homosexuality is wrong. For the same reason adultery is wrong. For the same reason fornication is wrong. They're all wrong for the same reason. They're wrong because God said they're wrong. Or there. There is no reason.
You say, what does that have to do with this story? There are so many enemies that are coming after our children. These, the Amalekites, were a picture of the secret sin that they were. They were the ambush. They were the. They were the enemy that ambushed Israel. When they were coming out of the world to go into the. I mean, coming out of Egypt to go into the promised land, they ambushed. They ambushed the children of Israel. And God said, wipe them out. Saul didn't wipe them out. So now these leftover. These. This remnant crew of the Amalekites came and burnt David's comfort zone to the ground. By the way, I want you to know something. Now, sometimes the enemy will. God will use the enemy in your favor.
God will use your enemies to set up your appointing after your anointing. Did I say that too fast? Sometimes. What do I mean, Myron? I mean. I mean, sometimes your haters are your elevators. What? Do you remember what it says about Joseph when he had his dream? Joseph had his dream, and he told his brothers about his dream. He told his parents about his dream, and it says, his brothers hated him for his dreams and for his words.
Sounds like America, don't it? I wish I had some help in here. Hola. What? They hated him for his vision, for his dream. They hated him. So what'd they do? They sold him into slavery. In a couple of weeks, we're going to look at that story and you're going to be blown away. But here's what. Here's the remarkable thing about that. If Joseph's brothers hadn't sold him into slavery, he never would have become the prime minister of Egypt. He never would have interpreted Pharaoh's dream, and the entire world would have starved to death. Your haters are your celebrators. I mean, your Haters are your elevators, right? And so even though they hated him, God used them to pave the way, not just for Joseph's good, but even for their good, right? And their. And. And their trepidation. So, like, God used these Amalekites to destroy David's comfort zone, but he also used these Amalekites to use David to destroy these Amalekites because they hadn't come to Ziklag and burnt the. You wouldn't. The rest of the story would have never happened if they wouldn't have taken David's wives and his children, his men's wives and his men's children. If they wouldn't have done that, what would have happened was they'd have been. I. They'd have been all right. But no, y' all mess with the wrong one today, baby. Y' all came and messed with the giant killer. You know what I'm saying? You mess with the one who has slain his tens of thousands, and now there's only a few hundred of y'. All. It's a wrap. Let's see what happens when David and his men pursued. In verse nine, David went. He had the 600 men that were with him, and they came to the brook Besore, where those that were left behind. I'm sorry, now, I jumped. Yeah. Over they went to the brook Besor, where the men, 600 men that were with him came to the brook Besor. By the way, the word besor, it means cheerful. They came to the brook of cheerfulness. And I know I stop and give parenthetical statements about everything, but everything reminds me of, like, when we begin to see how these patterns match up. Right. So we talked earlier about disruption follows intention. We see that in Genesis chapter one, right? So intention, what's the intention? In the beginning, God created the heaven and the earth. What's the disruption that followed that intention? And the earth was without form and void and darkness upon the face of the deep. When it says was without form, that word was is not the word used to be, but it's the word became. The earth became without form and void and darkness upon the face of the deep. Now, I don't know that this is the case, but some Bible scholars believe that it's probably, or possibly the case that between Genesis 1:1 and Genesis 1:2 is where God kicked Lucifer out of heaven and he threw him down to Earth. And because Satan couldn't destroy heaven, he tried to destroy Earth. Some people believe that's what happened between Genesis chapter one and Genesis two. Like, if you read like the Rhys chronological Bible. He has that verse from. It's Ezekiel or Isaiah or somewhere in there, right? In between verse one and two, Right. And so. But what happened? The earth was without form and void and darkness upon the face of the deep. We know that's what Satan does. It was without form. What does that mean? It was deformed. Disruption sometimes shows up in the. In the. In the form of deformity. Right? It was without form and void. It was devoid. It was deformed and it was devoid. What's the void? It was empty. It was empty, right? What does Satan do? He came, like, he took everything from Ziklag, burned it with fire. It's now empty. And then darkness was upon the face of the deep. Darkness. What is darkness? Darkness is the despair that came over David and his men until they cried, until they had no more power to weep. And his men were so in such despair, in such a state of depression, that they thought of stoning David. They talked about stoning David. Man, we let this man lead us down here with the Philistines, and now we left our wives to go fight with this crazy king. And now we come back and our wives are gone and our children are gone, man, I think we should just, like, put him out of our misery right now.
600 men that were with him, and they came to the Brook Resort where those that were left behind stayed. David pursued. By the way, there were some of the men who were with David that were so wiped out, they didn't even have enough energy to pursue. So now here's what's really interesting. All of them have been doing battle beside Achish. They'd all been fighting against the enemy. They come back from battle like, y' all know how it is after a day's work, right? Can you imagine if your day's work was fighting to save your life with a sword and a knife and people were trying to kill you, and you're doing that for hours at a time, how exhausted you would be. Some of the guys were so exhausted, they didn't have anything left. They said, I left it all on the field, coach. Well, we're gonna leave you right here by the Brook resource. You can cheer yourselves up, but we're gonna go get your. We're gonna go get our stuff and we're gonna go get your stuff.
And then it says.
But David pursued. He and the 400 men. So 200 abode behind, which were so faint they could not go over the brook. They were so tired, they couldn't Even pass over the brook of cheerfulness. They found an Egyptian in a field. And they brought him to David and gave him bread. And. And he did eat. And they made him to drink water. And they gave him a piece of cake of figs and two clusters of raisins. And when he had eaten, his spirit came again unto him. For he had eaten no bread nor drunk any water for three days and three nights. So his blood sugar was low, he was dehydrated. This brother was in trouble.
And David said unto him, to whom belong us thou, and whence art thou? And he said, I am a young man of Egypt, a servant of Amalekite. And. And my master left me because three days ago, gone. Three days agone, I fell sick.
And we made an invasion upon the south of the Cherethites and upon the coast which belongs to Judah, and upon the south of Caleb. And we burned Ziklag with fire. And David said unto him, can thou bring me down to this company? Now, before I go into that notice, this is what the enemy does. This is exactly how the enemy treats his own. What did it say? It says. It says, I got sick. So what did they do? They left me behind. They left me behind three days ago. They left him behind three days ago. He didn't have anything to eat. He didn't have anything to drink, which means they left him alone. They left him three days ago with nothing to eat and nothing to drink. And when they left him, they didn't give him any food. And we know they didn't give him. They didn't not give him food because they didn't have food. They just burnt ziglag with fire and took everything that David and his people had. So they had food, they had water. But he fell sick. He said, okay, you're no more. You're of no more use to me. You might as well just die here in the wilderness. I am here to tell you, in the words of the late, great R.G. lee, the devil's pearls are paste pearls. They have no value. His diamonds are lustrous plastic. His nectar turns out to be Hogslop. And if you eat his corn, he'll choke you on his cob. The Devil always pays in counterfeit money. There is no honor among thieves. And you can serve the enemy through drugs and alcohol and illicit sex and whatever else you want to your whole life. But I am telling you there is going to come your best day with your best day with the enemy, the world, the flesh, and the devil. Your best day with the enemy is your first day, and your worst day is going to be your last day.
And in God's economy, no matter how bad it is in your life right now, or no matter how good it is, it's going to keep getting better.
Okay, so that's my rant about the Egyptian.
But I want you to understand there are so many people who don't get it. There are so many people who don't get. Like when you sell your soul to Satan to Sir, or you sell your soul to the appetites of the flesh or the attitudes of the devil, or the ambitions of the world, you are wasting your life for something or someone that doesn't care a lick about you.
They made you drink water, okay, these three days. Nights. Verse 13. And David said unto him, to whom belongs Thou? He said, amalekite. Okay. Verse 14, verse 13. And he said, I am a young man, Egyptian, a servant of Malachite. My master left me because three days ago gone. I fell sick when he made an abase upon his side. Okay, I already read all that. Okay. Verse 15. David said to him, can thou bring me down this company? He said, swear unto me by God that thou wilt neither kill me nor deliver me into the hands of my master, and I will bring thee down to this company.
I just want you all to see something here. The best time to negotiate a deal.
Is when the person you're negotiating with needs something, and you have it.
Now, this Egyptian was smart enough to know he left me. My master left me high and dry once. But as long as you promise me you ain't gonna give him a chance to do it again, I'm your dude. I can take you there. And you promise you ain't going to kill me?
And see, here's the problem. David is David. The name David means beloved. And David is the king who is the man after God's own heart. But he's a. He's an Old Testament archetype of Christ. And I'm here to tell you, most people who don't understand think when they receive Christ as their Savior and they yield to him as lord, owner, master, they think they're losing something. They're afraid. Oh, promise you're not going to like I am coming. That you might have life and that you might have it more abundantly. I'm not here to kill you. And I'm certainly not going to give you back to your master. I love what Jesus said. He said to the Father of all that thou has given me, I have not lost any.
So good. No, I'm not going to deliver you to your master and I'm not going to kill you. He said I can bring you down his company. Cool.
And he brought him down. And behold, they were spread abroad upon all the earth, eating and drinking and dancing. Told you they had food and water, eating and drinking and dancing because of all the great spoil they had taken out of the land of the Philistines and out of the land of Judah. And I love this part.
It's really interesting how you fight when you know you can't lose. Like, you got a whole different level of fight game when you know you can't lose. Like, when you know it's about to go down and you can't. Like, like. Yeah, I'm talking. Yeah, I'm talking stuff. Don't you see my big brother behind me? Yeah.
Right, David. See, David knows what it's like to fight and know you can't lose. And the reason David knew he couldn't lose when he fought his first battle against Goliath, he knew he couldn't lose because God had entered covenant with him through his great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great granddaddy, Abraham. And if you go read Genesis, chapter 15, where it talks about God coming to Abram and saying, fear not, Abram, I'm your shield and you're exceeding great reward. The shield is a type of your protection. The great reward is a type of your provision. Abram says to God, he says, what will you give me, seeing I go childless and this the steward of my house is this Eliezer of Damascus. But to me you have given no seed. Now, you gotta understand, Abram. Abram. Abram was kind of like, lord, you promised me 10 years ago you were gonna give me a seed. You told me that when I was 65. I'm 75. I still don't have no child.
See, hey, God's delays are not God's denials. God's delays are God's preparation where he gets you ready for what he already has ready for you.
And so God told Abram, he said, look, here's what you do. Go get. Go get a heifer, three years old.
A she goat, three years old. A ram, three years old. A turtle dove and a young pigeon. A turtle dove and a young pigeon. He said, I want you to kill these animals and I want you to cut them in pieces, but don't divide the birds. There's so much beautiful symmetry in that. One of these days I'm going to teach on that whole thing, but I don't have time Right now, but so much beautiful. So Abram cut these animals in pieces, and he put the carcasses in two piles. Because that's what they did when they entered into covenant. They would kill some animals and they would put them in piles, and they would walk around between those animals like two people, back to back. When they got ready to enter into covenant, they would walk in a figure eight around those animals. They come back face to face, and then they would take a knife in their left hand, cut their right hand, and they would both do that, put their hands together, bind it with a rope. Your blood becomes my blood. My. My blood becomes your blood. And they would exchange covenant vows. They would exchange covenant names, Right? Like, if I were going to do this with Pastor Ron Lovell right here, I would say Lavelle. I didn't say it right. Pastor Ron Lavelle. I would say my name would become Myron Ron Golden. His name would become Ron Myron Lavelle. We would exchange covenant names. That's why when a man and a woman get married, the woman takes the man's name. Because it's a covenant relationship. It's not a contract relationship. Okay? And then they would exchange covenant promises. The covenant promise is this. I'm going to give everything I have. I'm going to give my time, my effort, my energy, my resources, my knowledge, my wisdom, my wealth, and even my very life, if necessary, to protect you and yours. And then here's the power of the covenant. If I don't keep my word to you, may what happened to this animal happen to me. So when God got ready to enter into covenant with Abram, Abraham had a. Abram had a whole lot of. His name wasn't yet Abraham. Abram had a lot of problems. In Genesis, chapter 15, he was about to die. Why? Because when he entered that covenant, when he did that figure eight, walk with God, they stand together, back to back. They come back in the middle, face to face. No man has seen God at any time and lived. So he would have had to die just because he entered covenant with God. Also, he couldn't keep the covenant. So he's got. He's in double jeopardy. So what happened? It says, and it came to pass when the sun went down, it was dark. Behold. So God made a. God made a deep sleep to fall upon Abram, right? Remember. Remember somebody else that God made a deep sleep to fall upon? Who was it? Adam in the Garden of Eden. What did he do? He brought him his covenant partner.
So he made a deep sleep to fall upon Abram and here's what it says. Behold, when the sun went down, it was dark. Behold, a smoking furnace and a burning lamp that passed between those pieces. What is that? Abram needed a substitute to walk the covenant with God in his place. The smoking furnace is a type of God the Father. That's what it tells us in Exodus when it says that God came down on Mount Sinai. It says the smoke ascended like the smoke of a great furnace. And then, like we talked about in Bible study a couple weeks ago, that Jesus said, I am the light of the world. That burning lamp is a type of God the Son. And so what happened? God put Abram to sleep. And then the burning lamp took Abram's place as a substitute. And the smoking furnace. And so the smoking. The smoking furnace says, if I don't keep my word to Abraham, may what happened to this Adam? What happened to me? The burning lamp says, if Abram doesn't keep his covenant with you, may what happened to this animal happen to me.
This is like the first. Well, the second Old Testament prophecy of Christ dying on the cross. This is the second prophecy of that happening. The first one was in Genesis, chapter three. So. So. So David remembered what God told Abram. Here's what he said. I'm going to bless you in ways you can't bless yourself. I'm going to give you things you can't get yourself. I'm going to make you something you can't make yourself. I'm going to take the source of your shame and make it the source of your fame. I'm going to bless those that bless you. And I'm going to curse those that curse you. And in you, all the families of the earth will be blessed. Boom. Soon as David heard Goliath swearing against the armies of Israel, he knew Goliath couldn't win. I can't lose. So what happened? The very same enemy that caused everybody else to run away caused David to run towards that enemy. So you have a different level of fight when you know you can't lose. Like the level of fight you have when you know you can't lose. Yeah. Come on. Come on. I don't care how big you are. I don't care how. Goliath's spearhead weighed 17 pounds. I mean, 16 pounds. The spearhead. The head of his spear. Not the spear. The head of his spear weighed 16 pounds. Can you imagine getting hit in the chest with a spear, the head of which weighs 16 pounds? Your whole body would explode. Your arms would go one way, your legs would Go another way. I mean, if you walk by sight, it makes sense to be afraid of Goliath. But if you walk by faith, and faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. When David rehearsed in his ears what God told his great grandfather Abram, he said, this dude can't win. He's cursing. He's cursing the armies of God. He can't win. Well, David knew he couldn't lose. How do you know he couldn't lose? Because he prayed and God said, pursue.
No doubt, recover all and without. I mean you. Without fail, no doubt prevail. And with and without fail, cover, recover all. You're going to get everything back. Like nothing's going to be missing. You won't have a feather missing in a pillow. You won't have a thread missing in a garment. You're going to get everything back. Okay? So now I want you to understand this is the level of fight they had. Remember? Now, they had just left 200 other soldiers who had been in battle with them by the brook. Besour. They didn't even have enough energy to cross over the brook. Where did they get this extra fight from? Energy is not physical. Energy is spiritual. And it manifests itself in physicality.
Watch what happens.
It says.
Oh, verse brought him down. They were spread dancing. Verse 16. And when he had brought them down, behold, they were spread abroad upon all the earth, eating and drinking and dancing because of all the spoil that they had taken out of the land of the Philistines and out of the land of Judah. And David smote them. David, how long you gonna put the whooping on him? From the twilight even until the evening of the next day. That's a lot of whoop. That's a whole lot of whooping right there. I'm gonna beat you from the twilight today to the going down of the sun tomorrow.
It reminds me. It reminds me of when me and my brother. I've got six brothers, and we were so. We were boys, we were mischievous, right? My dad would come in there, man, he'd take off his belt. He would. I mean, he could take his belt off faster than Sinbad the sailor man. I'm telling you, he'd take off his belt. And I mean, we're, Ah, daddy ain't gonna do it. And we'd be saying, I ain't gonna, dad, Daddy, I ain't gonna do it no more. He said, I know you ain't, Pap, pap, pap. I know you ain't.
Can you imagine? I'm sorry. Daddy, I know you sorry. And he just starts flying you. So yeah, you sorry, but you ain't gonna be sorry tomorrow.
And David.
Says.
To going down, I lost my place, I got so excited.
Verse 17. David smote them from the twilight even unto the evening of the next day. And there escaped not a man of them, save 400 young men which rode upon camels and fled. Which means there were more than 400 men there. They were. They slew more, way more than 400 men. So David and his men, his 400 men, were outnumbered by however many men there were. And there was nothing lacking. And David recovered all that the Amalekites had carried away, and David rescued his two wives. And nothing lacking to them. And there was nothing lacking to them, neither small nor great, neither their sons nor their daughters, nor their spoil, nor anything that they had taken to them. They, David recovered all. And David took all of the flocks and the herds which they drave before them and those other cattle and said. And they said, this is David spoil. And David came to the 200 men. I love this. This is one of my favorite parts of the story. David came to the 200 men which were so faint that they could not follow whom they had made also to abide by the brook besore. And they went forth to meet David and to meet the people that work with him. And. And David came near to the people and saluted them. Then answered the wicked men, the men of Belial, of those that went with David, and said, because they went not with us, we shall not give them ought of the spoil, which means any of the spoil that we've recovered, save to every man his wife and his children, that they may lead them away and depart. And David said, you shall not do so, my brethren, with that which the Lord hath given unto us. Given us who have. Who has preserved us and delivered this company that came against us into our hand. See, he, David knew that the battle is the Lord's. Some trust in chariots, some trust in horses, but we will remember the name of the Lord our God. He said, you ain't doing this.
And then it says, verse 24. For who will hearken unto you in this matter? But as his part is that goeth down to the battle, so shall his part be that tarrieth by the stuff, they shall part alike. And it was so from that day forward that he made it a statute and an ordinance in Israel unto this day. What's he saying? Here's what David's saying. Teamwork makes the dream work and when the team wins, everybody on the team wins. Like everybody on the team can't do everything. But you don't make the mistake. The New Testament says it like this. Don't. Don't make the mistake of thinking one member is more important than another. You know, members have a way of letting you know how important they are when they get injured, don't they? Huh? Can I get a witness? I remember one time I was chopping down a tree in my backyard and there's a broken glass there. A house I just bought, I was renovating and I'm like chopping this tree and there's a piece of broken glass and it sliced through my thumb. I had to go get stitches. And so I had this. I had these stitches in my thumb. I am not kidding. It seemed like I bumped that thumb on everything. Like it made me understand the phrase, it sticks out like a sore thumb. My son threw me a pen from the top of the steps. It landed right on that thumb. Like, what, what is this? Right?
Don't make the mistake. Don't let the hand think that's more important than the eye or the eye think it's more important than the hand.
But I'm just an eye. I want to wear rings like your hand. Now how crazy does that look?
That's why if you want, you want to build a successful business, love the people and use the money. Don't use the people and love the money.
Use the money to love the people. You want to have a successful family, don't use the family. Love the family. I'm telling you, if you will begin to love people and treat people good and understand that there's no such thing as a self made millionaire. There are only teammate millionaires. No such thing as a self made man. There are only teammate men and women. No such thing. There's not a single solitary person under the sound of my voice right now or watching this YouTube video who has gotten to wherever you are, wherever that may be, by yourself.
Don't forget the people who helped you get here. Because in the reality, in real, honest to goodness, straightforward reality, those of us who are standing, we're all standing on the shoulder of giants. So it would behoove us to be thankful instead of being proud. I hope this helps you in some way shape or form to empower you to not give up on your dream, not give up on your journey. Don't give up on your anointing. That is for an appointing. But pursue, overtake, recover, all. Go get your stuff. If you like this video, like it, share it, comment on it, subscribe, and anything else youtuber you can think of. Do that too. Peace out, Cub Scouts. I'll see you on the next video.
