Hi, it's Robin Sharma and I just wanted to hop on to Instagram Live, something I really don't do a lot of. And I wanted to first of all say a huge thank you to each of you from around the world. Hi. Let's see who we have here. We have Dakash. Good to see you, Jatin. I'm really happy to be here on Instagram Live and what I'd love to do is ask me any question that you want to ask me. You know, I want to be helpful to you here.
So let me see. I see some videos coming in. Wow, fantastic. Ask me some questions, guys. It's great that you say hello and I appreciate it and I say hello to you as well, but I want to be helpful to you. I think we have people starting to join this Instagram Live.
And I'm just going to share some of my thoughts right now. I think we're ending this year and it's a great time to reflect on how you've lived this year. Someone asked me, Lokesh asked me, how did I start? Well, I used to be a lawyer and I was really unhappy being a lawyer because I think if you become what the world wants you to become and you lose yourself along the way, you're never going to find happiness. I mean, happiness is not having a lot of money. And success is not having a lot of things in my sense. You know, real happiness and real joy and real success is doing work that you love to do and that fuels your soul and doing work that causes you to get better and doing work that makes the world better. Happiness is being around people who you love and who love you and who understand you. Happiness is engaging in a series of passions that fill you with joy. And happiness is making the world a better place. And I think it's really easy in this world right now, especially on Instagram, to think, oh, you need to have a jet, you need to have a lot of money and you need to have a lot of followers to be happy. And a lot of the so called celebrities aren't really that happy. So trust your instinct. It's a lot more wise than your intellectual. Okay, when is the 5am club available in India? To all my amazing fans in India, there's great news. My new book, the 5:00am Club, which I spent four years on, is available in India this Thursday, December 19th. Doug. Hey, Doug. Walter. You say I speak the truth. It was a pleasure meeting you. A personal mastery academy in June and I've seen your comments on my Instagram feed and I thank you for the encouragement. I love my fans and I work for my fans, and I'm grateful for my fans.
Let's ask me some questions and try to use one sentence so I could read it because we have a lot of people coming in here. General Thopes. People say writing is dead. What do you have to say about that? Writing is not dead. Reading is not dead. People love stories. People love to grow. It's one of the great sources of happiness. Writing isn't dead. I mean, writing is one of the best ways on the planet to express yourself and capture your thoughts. And, you know, I stopped writing for about six years, and I'm really happy to, you know, to bring this out to the world. And it's already tracking on bestseller list, and I thank you for it. It's only been out, you know, two weeks in Canada and a few other places, and it's already selling out in stores. And, you know, I've put my heart and soul in the 5am Club. It's a layered book. If you're looking for a quick fix, don't read the book. If you're looking for a quick fix, this is not your book. Don't buy it. I don't know if you've ever heard an author say this. The 5:00am Club. My new book is for real people who want to do real work, who want real results, and who want to really do masterful work, and who really want to make the world a better place, and who really want to be real and live a real life. It's not quick fix. It's not superficial. It's a calibrated, powerful piece of.
Look, this morning I was journaling. And what I wrote was, when I wrote the book, my intention was to write a book that would be a love letter to your primal genius and your inner hero. And if that speaks to you, then I can't think of a better way for you to start the new year than reading the 5am Club. Because, you know, there's a concept in the book called day stacking. So as you start your mornings, so you live your day. And as you live your days, so you craft your week. And as you craft your week, so you construct your months. And as you create your months, so you build a year. And as you build your years, so you create your life. And so a great life is nothing more than a series, like a necklace of pearls strung together. And it all depends on your mornings. And if you can calibrate and optimize your mornings, which is exactly what the 5am club is all about. Then your days are going to take care of itself. Okay, let's see.
Oh.
The girl with steth asked me, how can you avoid negative people? So here's what I'd say. Your life and your productivity and your creativity absolutely depends on deleting energy vampires, dreams stealers and toxic bandits from your life. My life changed when I started getting and there's a model in the new book called Joy as a gps.
And here's what it means. Populate your life with people who fill you with joy. That's your heart telling you who belongs in your life and anyone who diminishes your joy. Anyone who laughs at your dreams, anyone who doesn't understand you, anyone who when you're with them just make you feel bad, disappointed, dejected, unenthusiastic. These might be your family members, it might be your best friend, it might be work colleagues. I understand it and I've heard it before and I say that with respect. But those are the people who are blocking you from your greatness and who are diminishing your joy. So one of the best things you can do in 2019 is release the people from your life who are toxic. They are affecting your creativity, they are affecting your neurobiology, they are affecting your immune system, they're affecting your epigenetics. I talk in the book about all of these things, including the power of epigenetics. There's a lot of neurobiology in the book along with spirituality, along with productivity. But the point I want to say to you and suggest to you with great love and respect, it's a great question. You absolute. If you want to build prosperity and creativity and live a great life, you've got to get rid of the energy vampires. And you might be addicted to them. It might be co dependence. It's not easy, but it's worth it. Someone said Anoop says thanks for the monk who sold his Ferrari. Thank you for reading it. Someone asks how to improve myself. Well, that's a big question. I would start with optimizing your mornings. And that again for those of you just joining, this is my new book. It's already tracking on best seller list. This. This book is selling out in stores and I wrote it because someone just asked me, how do you improve your life? The single best thing. If my children ask me, dad, what's the single best thing to improve my life? Whether it's creativity, more productivity, more prosperity, more joy, more soulfulness. I would say learn to join the 5am Club and I'm not going to sit here and say to you it's going to be easy. It'll take 66 days, according to the research University College London. But 66 days, that's only eight weeks. And so once you've done that, you reach a point that researchers call automaticity. It'll become easier to get up at 5am than not to get up at 5am you can do this. And if you're resisting me, well, don't let your limiting beliefs block your greatest life. You know, a lot of us, we resist the messenger, we shoot the messenger. We oh, I can't get up early, I can't make more money, I can't be more creative, I can't find love, I can't be fit. And I'm here to fight for you and say that's just your programming, that's just what you've been taught by the world. That's just your emotional signatures. You have a hero inside of you. The human brain, talking about the brain, for example, is based on a concept of neuroplasticity. Your brain is built to grow, your muscles are built to expand. But it's like an athlete in the gym. You've got to train the 5am Club method. And the new book will show you exactly how to do it. But this isn't quick fix. You've got to read the book, study the book and then do the work. It's like a great chef, she doesn't or he doesn't just wake up after a week as a world class chef. What makes genius is not your genetics, it's your training, it's your commitment, it's your dedication, it's your obsession bordering on a possession. The great ones, whether it's Federer or Shakespeare or.
Mark Zuckerberg or Nelson Mandela, Mahatma Gandhi, Mother Teresa, Coco Chanel, Katherine Graham of the Washington Post. These people had a monomaniacal focus. They weren't playing with their phones all day. They were doing work that matters. They were creating value for other people and they were starting with their inner core. Because you're never going to get any higher than your mindset. Heart set, health set and soul set. And if those are radical new concepts for, for you, then I explain them in the book. The larger point is if you were to ask me what's the one thing I could do to make 2019 the best year of your life? And I'd say this to my kids, join the 5am Club and give yourself 60 minutes. I call it the victory hour in the book and work on your inner core. Work on improving your mindset, releasing your limitations. But it's not just mindset like so many people are talking about on Instagram. It's this other word I've created, heart set. You can't change the world. You can't be creative. You can't be productive if you're heartbroken or angry or disappointed or if you have shame. So you've got to do that heart set work. You've got to build intimacy with your gratitude and your joy and your fire. But it's not only mindset and heartset, it's your health set. You know, if you're diseased, if you don't have energy, if you don't have vitality, you can't execute and translate your lofty ambitions into results. But it's not only mindset and heart set and health set, it's your soul set. And you wonderful human beings wouldn't be following me if you didn't know that I'm not only about success. Because success without soulfulness is an empty game. There are too many people in the world saying it's all about money and it's all about jets and it's all about followers and it's all about working day and night. I don't believe so. And I say this with a lot of respect. We all have our own philosophies, But I think success without soulfulness and joy, great family times, service to the world, reading poetry, being in art galleries, eating great food, drinking great coffee, build your empires. But make sure you do it with stuff. Style and soulfulness and love and humanity. One thing I'm super excited about, and I've been sharing this on the social media. I wrote the 5am Club. Not only to transform your life, I wrote this book because a percentage of your investment in the book. And I know we have people from around the world right now. It says top Live. I don't know what that means. Maybe we're the top live on Instagram right now. But a percentage of this book goes directly into my children's foundation, which is now going to be going to help children with leprosy. Why am I obsessed with fighting leprosy? My dad was a family physician for 54 years.
And a little while ago he said, robin, if you have a chance. He worked in Africa when he was starting his medical career, and he said, robin, you know, I've worked with lepers and it's a terrible disease. They put them on colonies. And I just heard from my mother yesterday. She did some research. Robin island in 1845, Robben island.
And the book ends. The new book, the 5am Club, ends in a very dramatic chapter based on Robben island. And, and my mom said, you know, Robben island used to be a leopard colony in 1845. And so as I researched more on leprosy, it's a violent disease, you know, here's your homework. Look for some images of people with leprosy. And so I wrote the book not only to transform your mornings, so you transform your life. I wrote the book because a percentage of your investment in the 5am club will go directly to help children with leprosy. So you not only get your transformation, we help make the world a place of less suffering. And.
The next few years, I'm going to really get even more involved in fighting leprosy. Anyway.
Natasha, it's great to see you. I know you're very, very kind on social to me. Cal my name. Love your work. Thank you. Let's see, who's next? Someone.
Sorry. How do we keep focused on your goals and not get distracted? I talk a lot about digital dementia in the 5am Club, but just don't be on your phone all the time. You know, put it in a little. Put it on in a. Put it in a little bag and put it away from you. You can't have your phone. Your phone is costing you your fortune. Okay? Technology, beautifully used, is amazing. I mean, I'm talking to all of you on my phone. You know, you can build an empire on your phone right now, but it's also creating a dopamine addiction, and we all know about that. And so how do you not be distracted? You keep your technology away from you and you use it selectively. So you put it in another room and you turn it. One thing I talk about in the 5am Club is your nightly routine because you're not going to get up at 5 in the morning if you're playing with your phone and that bright white light, which is affecting melatonin production while you sleep. So one of the ways to reduce distraction is, you know, have what I call a tight bubble of total focus where you spend large blocks of time away from interruptions and distraction. Edison had his Menlo Park. Thomas Edison. And it was this place where him and his team would go so he could produce the work that changed the world. You need to have your own Menlo Park. You need to have places where you go to. Even if it's. Even if it's a. It could be a coffee shop where you get away from the noise and you Focus on the signal.
What else? Other questions. Let's see. Oh, Pilly, how are you? It was great seeing you at Titan. Love you guys a lot. Love back to you. Thank you.
Okay, guys, I need to get going. If you have some questions. Yes. Someone asked me about the night nightly ritual. And then Pierre Richards says about forgive. Wow. Great questions coming in. Nightly ritual is important. The last hour before you go to sleep. No technology. A dark room. Lay out your exercise gear. I had someone who told me she slept in her running shoes so she could hit the ground running. That is a warrior for the 5am club. Someone else asked me, how do you forgive?
I've had to learn how to forgive. And I simply say, forgiveness comes through understanding. Few people on the planet have had to learn how to forgive, like Nelson Mandela. But I think all those years on Robben Island, 18 years on Robben island, he learned how to forgive. And so how do you forgive? You journal and you pray and you meditate and you reflect and you remember. And I say this in the new book, the 5am Club. People do the best that they can do based on their level of awareness and their consciousness. And if people who hurt you could have done better, they would have done better. If a child hurts you, you don't scold the child. You love the child. People who have hurt you need your understanding, not your anger. And then the final question I'm going to answer is someone asked me, how do you improve your work ethic? Well, work ethic is a muscle. How do you improve your bicep? You flex your bicep and then you recover your bicep. How do you build your brain, which is like a muscle, through neuroplasticity? You read difficult books, you.
Think difficult thoughts. You do difficult work. Don't do easy work. There is no growth in that. I spent four. Four years of hard labor, sweat equity. I worked on every line of this book. I rewrote it countless times. I poured my love into this book. I poured my craft into this book. This book changed my life. Even if it doesn't change your life, it's been a success because this book changed my life, because I pushed myself. T.S. eliot said, Only those willing to go to their edges can expand their limits. So how do you improve your work ethic? In a world of entitlement, where people want the jet and the car and the followers and the fame, but don't want to get up at 5am you be a contrarian and you outwork everyone around you and don't do it for the money to do it for who it makes you as a craft person and as a human being. And even if you're the best street sweeper in the world and the best teacher in the world, or the best baker in the world, or the best baggage handler in the world, or the best billionaire in the world, and if no one sees it, you see it. And that is the game that the heroes play. It's not about being liked and receiving positive public opinion. Greatness, world class. And this is why the reason I wrote the Vive Am Club is for real heroes. And the world needs more heroes.
And why wait for them? You say to me on social media, here on Instagram, you're a hero. Thank you. I'm no hero. I'm a humble servant. I am a blue collar worker.
Doing my best to help you believe in your luminosity. The world has stuffed it and hypnotized us outside away from believing in ourselves. Every human being on the planet can do gorgeous work, find greater health, build prosperity, find love, and make a difference in your community. Do not let anyone deny you from that.
So I'm no hero. I'm a humble servant helping you. You're the hero. And I think today, if you don't believe it, today is the day to start owning it. Anyway, I hadn't planned to show up on Instagram live.
Definitely, definitely Invest in the 5am Club. I believe in this book in all my heart. And as I mentioned, a percentage of your investment will go to help children with leprosy. So you not only get your transformation, you help children in need. We all win here. We all win here. And the book has only been out in some countries a few weeks and it's already on bestseller list. It's quite remarkable what's happening with the 5am Club. So more than anything else, I say thank you for your time. I say thank you to you for believing in my work. And I want you to go out there and I want you to make a difference in the world today. Okay? Love you a lot. And I hope to spend more time on Instagram Live. Spread the message, guys. Spread my word. Let's get out there. Final thought, Margaret Mead, the social anthropologist. And she said, never doubt that a small group of people can change the world. That's the only group that ever has. The world needs you to shine. Okay, Love you a lot. Bye.
