Lead With Kindness | Robin Sharma

Robin Sharma shares three moments when kindness changed things: giving his windbreaker to a restroom attendant in Cairo, receiving a hat from a stranger at Dubai airport, and a conversation with Pau Gasol. He argues that small acts of generosity ripple further than you know.

If you have a chance to do something nice for someone, do it. Because you may not come this way again. Hi, it's Robin Sharma, author of the Everyday Hero Manifesto. This is a quick video for you today, but hopefully will be of service for you as a leader and a producer, an all around great human being. So I remember having a conversation with Pau Gasol when he was the center for Los Angeles Lakers. He's a wonderful human being and truly humble and very decent, along with an extraordinary athlete, of course. And what he shared with me essentially was this. He said, robin, it takes so little to make someone happy. And I've never forgotten that. And I do my best to live it far from perfect, of course. And yesterday I was flying from Cairo to Rome and I was in the restroom in the international term terminal and I was washing my hands. And the gentleman who was taking care of the restroom liked the jacket that I had. It was a windbreaker and I had it wrapped around my waist and he said, that's really cool. And I, without thinking too much, I took the K way jacket off and I gave it to him and I said, this is yours. And he had no words and there were tears in his eyes. And he sort of followed me out of the restroom and he put it on in front of me and it actually fit him perfectly. And there were a couple of ladies who work with him and they saw him and he did a little dance that I don't think I'm going to forget for a long time. Of course, this is not about me being anyone or anything special. It's just about the principle, which is live in a generous way. And whenever you see an opportunity. In the Everyday Hero Manifesto there's a Quaker quote, but essentially it's, if you have a chance to do something nice for someone, do it, because you may not come this way again. And I think that's so important. You can always get another windbreaker, but to give it to someone to make them happy is so very powerful. And I'm also thinking about the gentleman at the Dubai airport. I looked at his hat. It was a fox hat. If you ride motocross bikes, you know the brand Fox. I said, great hat. Without thinking, he pulled it off and he gave it to me. And it's, it's a great way, I think, to go through life. So hopefully this quick video is helpful to you and keeps you generous versus in scarcity and reminds you about the importance of doing great things to people, whether it's on your team, your customers who put food on your table or the way you just live out in the world. Thank you for following my work and your faith in me and believing in me, and I wish you all the best. Have a great day.
