The speaker credits his parents, James and Carolyn Gold, as his greatest mentors. They taught him that anything anybody else can do, you can do, and that family loyalty means if your brother's in a fight, you are in a fight.
Chapters
Without a doubt, the best mentors that I ever had in my life were my parents. They taught me and my brothers so many lessons when we were growing up that they can't even be numbered. And my parents taught more with questions than they did with answers. But I'm going to just share some things that they taught me that have impacted my life in a great way. One, they taught me anything anybody else can do, you can do. Okay, cool. So if it can be done, it can be done by you. Lesson number one. Lesson number two. My parents taught us the importance importance of togetherness. We were allowed to fight people outside of our family, but we were not allowed to fight people inside our family. And my parents would say things like, if your brother's in a fight, you are in a fight. You know what I learned from that? I learned loyalty. If you leave together, you come back together. I learned the power of togetherness. The scripture says two are better than one, and a threefold cord is not quickly broken. James and Carolyn Gold are without a doubt the greatest mentors I ever had in my life.
