Sharma, author of the 5am Club, and welcome to this mastery session. This mastery session has a strange title called the Bald man in the Big Mercedes.
So the starting point in our journey together in this episode is something I've never shared before, but I call it RAM Syndrome. RAM Syndrome. RAM is an acronym, W R A M that speaks to the World Revolves Around Me syndrome. RAM Syndrome. And what my encouragement is, is never let that syndrome. It's almost bordering on a disease. Get anywhere near your tight bubble of total focus and anywhere your performance and don't let RAN syndrome infect anything or any element of your life. So what is RAAM syndrome? Well, like I said, it's World the World Revolves Around Me syndrome. We live in a world where a lot of good souls have fallen into this syndrome and they've forgotten who they truly are. And so it often happens because of the way people have been raised. Their mommies and daddies raise them, saying, the world revolves around you. Johnny, though, you're the most important person in the world. Sally, you can do no wrong. Ravi.
You.
Are a superhero, whatever the name is. And what starts to happen to these kids is they actually do believe the world revolves around them because their parents are telling them and constantly stroking them on the perceived reality that they are magical beings. They have all these superpowers, they can do no wrong. If there's a little boo boo, they come rushing to their rescue.
If they don't do well in a tennis match, well, you know, you still need a trophy. And what I believe is happening is that is producing these adults who suffer from RAM syndrome. W R A M World Revolves Around Me syndrome. And let me give you some observations or some examples I've recently seen. I was in an airport lounge recently and I saw this person stand up from the seat that person was in, collect their luggage because I think their flight had just been called. And I saw a tissue fall from them and it landed on the floor. And me and the gentleman next to me, we both saw it and we looked at it. And then I saw this person pick up the luggage, close it all up and walk away, leaving the tissue on the floor, I guess, for me to pick up or him to pick up or the cleaner to pick up. RAM syndrome. Sort of an entitlement mentality, wasn't it? There's another example that I want to share with you. I was in an exercise class and in the before you go into the exercise studio, there's a bunch of benches and it happened this morning, as a matter of fact, there was Someone on their phone taking up the entire bench, not leaving any space for anyone around them because they were on their phones. Ram syndrome. And then of course, the title of this mastery session, the grand finale, the bald man in the big black Mercedes. So I went to a Starbucks recently and I parked my vehicle. I started walking towards the entrance. And right by the entrance there's two spaces for disabled people. And what did I see in one of the spaces? A big black Mercedes. And inside it with the engine running, which isn't great for the environment, was a bald man sipping his coffee. And it was very clear that he was not disabled and had no sticker and had no permit. RAAM syndrome. There are people on the planet right now that have the perception the entire world revolves around them. And then we could deconstruct it and decode it and I think that would be a great homework exercise. In your journal, take those three scenarios that I've lovingly and hopefully respectfully shared with you and deconstruct. What do you think of the mindsets involved? What are the heart sets? What are the soul sets that those people are running by? What are the belief systems that are causing that behavior? Because here's a key point I want you to really download. Your daily behavior reflects your deepest beliefs. Your daily behavior reflects your deepest beliefs. What are the beliefs that they're running? Probably the world does revolve around them. Probably a sense of entitlement, probably. Probably a self centeredness so that other people don't matter. I mean, how are you going to build a great company or a great career or a great reputation or a great life if you don't think other people really matter? So you want to deconstruct those three scenarios and then let me leave you with some specific tactics to avoid the dreaded affliction of Ram syndrome. Number one, boots on the ground. No matter what happens, no matter how successful you are, no matter how big you become, in terms of your confidence, bravery, and intimacy with your primal genius, keep your boots on the ground. I mean, humility is an incredibly powerful thing. I've seen titans of industry lose everything because they forgot that it's that leadership is about service. Keep your boots on the ground. Stay humble. Keep it real. Never fall in love with yourself.
Hi, it's Robin Sharma and I really hope you're enjoying this episode of the Mastery Sessions. I'm absolutely delighted that people from across the planet are getting such great results from what I'm doing in the Mastery Sessions. Well, for a long time we've received so many requests from advertisers to put their ads on the mastery sessions and I have resisted doing so. And yet, what I wanted to do very quickly is offer you two resources that I absolutely know will create some marvelous shifts and elevations and results in your performance and in your personal life. The first is my book, the 5am Club. If you have not read it, you really need to know. It's one of the best selling books on the planet right now for a reason. It is transforming the lives of everyday heroes and people who want to make their ascent to world class. Definitely read the 5:00am Club. You are going to find it a very special book for your rise to world class. Secondly, for years people have been asking.
Me, robin, we want you to be our mentor.
Robin, we want you to be our coach. We want to learn what you've taught to the billionaires and the NBA superstars and the other professional athletes and the film icons and the titans of industry.
Really quickly.
All you need to do. If you're interested in me becoming your mentor, head over to the circleoflegends.com thecircleoflegends.com I've created a world class digital mentoring program where I will work with you each month to help you make your leap and your ascent to absolute world class.
Okay, now back to the episode. You know, the white belt mentality is a very powerful way to operate. The second tactic is be present, be present. So I think you know the bald man in the big black Mercedes. I bet you he has a really great heart, but he probably was. So maybe he's under stress, maybe he's so not in the moment. He's so unpresent. He lacks consciousness about his behavior and how it impacts on other people. I mean, if there was someone with a disability who needed that place, that's not a good thing. So the second thing I would say to you is practice and train around being Jedi level present so that you see your behavior, you know, you see your impact of what you do every day on the people around you and at the world at large. Being present is so powerful. When you're working, be fully present. When you're locking the door to your home, be present. When you're at work or in front of a customer, be present. So you're caring for the details. You're giving them world class service. You're hearing their pain points. Presence is a GCA or gargantuan competitive advantage in this world of.
Fragmented attention, digital diversion and.
Overwhelming complexity. And then the final tactic is remember that people are Watching. No matter what you do, people are observing you. They're observing your manners. They're observing your gracefulness.
They're observing your values in action.
They're observing and watching how you treat people.
They're observing what you say. They're observing the quality of your work. They're observing how hard you work, your family, especially your children, those little eyes or big eyes. They're watching the words that you use, the example that you set, the values that you express. And I'll just leave you with this. You know, my encouragement for you is to make the rest of your days.
A model of possibility in terms of what's available for a human being to live. What do I mean by that? Lead by example. Show us what's possible. Show us the extent to which a human being can express creativity and productivity and greatness and love and audacity. And show us wonder. So anyway, I hope this episode has been helpful to you. Definitely avoid Ram syndrome. Don't let it get anywhere near you. And if you've liked this episode and you want to go a lot deeper and you want to learn my philosophies, methodologies and tactics on exponential creativity, productivity, leadership, if you want to be the best performer in every room that you're in while you live gorgeous life, well, then I really encourage you to read my book, the 5am Club. It's currently one of the best selling books in the world right now. It's transforming the lives of people across the planet because the information in there really is very powerful and very tactical. So read the 5am Club. And if you want to go even deeper. For years people have asked me, robin, we want you to mentor us. We've read your books and we've done your online courses. Maybe even you've been to some of my online events. But they understand that all great athletes have a coach because a coach holds them accountable. All professional superstars have a mentor because the mentor pushes them and challenges them and is honest with them and teaches them. And so if you believe in that and you are maybe stuck in your life or you're successful, but you want to significantly get to the next level of world class. If that's of interest to you and you don't want to waste time figuring out on your own, then I'd love to tell you about the Circle of Legends. It's my world class monthly mentoring program. All of the information is at thecircleoflegends.com thecircleoflegends.com and it truly is a world class mentoring program, you're going to absolutely love it. Final thing I'll leave you with is this. If this episode of the Mastery Sessions has been valuable to you, I would love it if you would share it so we can get the message out. The world is in, in some places a wonderful place and in some places a messy place. And I believe why wait for more heroes on the planet when all of us have it in us to become the hero of our own life? And so I would love it if you would share this episode with three of your friends over the next 24 hours. Teacher learns the most. So by sharing it with those you care about and talking about the information you've learned, you're not only going to deepen it and integrate it in your own mindset and heartset and your performance, you're going to lift up the people around you, which is obviously a really great thing.
I want to thank you for being with me in this episode and I wish you all green lights. Hi, this is Robin Sharma. I hope you received great value from this Mastery Session.
