Codie Sanchez offers entrepreneurial advice emphasizing that the key skill for building generational wealth is bringing other people along — you cannot do it alone. She recounts an anecdote where a Goldman Sachs mentor challenged her to discover her biggest problem; six months later she identified the problem in one word: "people," underscoring the centrality of collaboration, team-building, and mentorship in business success.
The most important skill you can acquire in life if you want to have generational, what I call you level of money, is to bring other people along with you because you simply cannot do it by yourself. My very first business, I went to one of my mentors at Goldman, and he said, I already know what your biggest problem is going to be. And I said, okay, great, tell me. And he goes, no, I want you to find it out for yourself in six months. Come to me when you have your biggest problem and I'm going to tell you what it's going to be. So I came back to six months. I'm like, problem is one word, and it's people.
