Codie Sanchez argues that forgiving someone doesn't mean they get back into your life. You can forgive and still keep distance. Proximity is a privilege earned through consistent behavior, not something an apology automatically buys.

I think you got to stop giving people lifetime access because they apologize to you once. It's not an access badge after one apology. You don't automatically get someone back into your life or your business because they said, I'm sorry. It's totally fine to forgive someone. I'm not letting you control me anymore, and you've shown me enough consistency to not be trusted. And that's totally fine. You can forgive someone and still Not allow them access. You can love someone from a distance. In fact, usually you probably should. And that is actually you being responsible with your own life. When someone shows you who they are, believe them. You don't have to hate them or have any emotional energy towards them. You just don't have to be best buds with them. Be generous with forgiveness. Proximity, that thing is earned.

He wouldn't give you the dream if he didn't believe you had what it takes. You have what it takes.
