How I got 3 Millionaire Mentors in 24 Hours

Codie Sanchez shares how she connected with three millionaire mentors in a single day by offering value first and taking risks. She recounts meeting a presidential candidate and other notable figures, emphasizing that meaningful connections come from showing up with something to give, not just asking for help.

What's up, Elon? What's going on? I just dropped like 150 milligram edible and I'm feeling suited. You know what? I'm gonna call you back later. Dude, wouldn't it be amazing if you could just call up millionaires and billionaires for advice? I met a presidential candidate, a multi millionaire entrepreneur, and my YouTube manager, Christian, is on a mission to meet the famous podcaster Chris Williamson. Why should you care? Because we want to show you the exact steps it takes to increase your network and meet your dream mentor. Without any cash, without any connections, just easy. I believe that one relationship has the power to change your entire life, and we're going to prove it to you today. I want to start by just saying hysterical that I'm coming after a presidential candidate. Like, no pressure at all. I can't believe that this guy has come to Miami, bought a personalized cake, put Pop's face on it, and is going to hand deliver it.
I can think of no one better to discuss thriving as a business business leader in a recessionary period.
I actually think this is going to work.
Cody Sanchez.
The number one reason my companies do $50 million a year in revenue is through the people I know. Three steps I use to get the dream job. Business partners and mentors. So part one. How do you stand out? I call the value bomb. We're living in a more connected world than ever. Everyone is one message away. The problem is the people you want to connect with. Everyone else wants to connect with them too. Value bombing is offering so much value, they can't ignore you. That's the secret. This is my YouTube manager, Christian. And in order to prove that you don't need a big name to meet somebody with a big name, he will be doing all the steps necessary to prove anyone is capable of getting the mentors they want, as long as they put in the work.
Do I have to do this?
Yeah. Yeah, you do. He's obviously a little bit nervous about it. This is Chris Williamson, top 10 podcaster in the world. And Christian is a big fanboy. The law of reciprocity says when you gift someone something, they inherently feel like they owe you something in return. So that's what we started with. Christian composed a beautiful email saying, basically, I found your top performing YouTube video, clipped it up, made a thumbnail and a title. I estimate you can receive another 2 million views and roughly 6 to 8k in AdSense. It worked perfectly.
So we've just got a response from Chris Williamson. So he has come back to me. Saying hello, mate. I appreciate this approach. Very proactive. Find me on Saturday and say hi.
Nailed it.
Pretty perfect, isn't it?
This is not gonna work.
It's actually me that sent you that email of the clip of no way.
Nice to meet you.
Yeah, nice to meet you.
How are you doing? Yeah, good, thank you. But I must get.
20 or 30, probably 50 messages I've had a week. Yours is the first one that I replied to.
So how to get this right? Stand out by getting to know them. This is Sam Parr. Sam had a media company with millions of followers. He eventually sold that media company for 20 million-plus to HubSpot. But back in the day, I was working in finance, didn't know Sam at all. I wanted to get in front of Sam. I was trying to start a newsletter, wanted to learn all of his secrets. He didn't want to respond to my one off email and the thousands of others that came to him. So what did I do? Instead of doing the same thing as everybody else, I sent him a package. I broke what's called the fourth wall. Basically, I sent him a package to his office by googling his office location at the Hustle. And inside of it were like an obscene amount of butterfingers. I think the box was like this big. Maybe it cost me a hundred bucks and it was packed with butterfingers. Cody sent me literally 50 butterfingers, and I knew that Sam's favorite little fat boy snack was butterfingers because he wouldn't shut up about it on his podcast, which I listened to at the time because of that, inside a massive amount of butterfingers. I basically put a little card that just said, I love what you're doing at the Hustle. Really appreciate you and everything that you're doing. Here's my email. I'd love to connect. I won't take up any of your time. Feel free to eat these things if you don't want to talk because it was so weird. Not only did Sam email me back, but he also took a little snap of it, posted it on the socials. When Sam emailed me, I was really specific in my ask, and it was tiny. I was like, sam, I think your stuff's awesome. I'm starting a newsletter. If you were going to start one today, what platform would you use? It took him 10 seconds to respond, and I used those 10 seconds to continue forward. So break the fourth wall. That's how you stand out. Fourth wall break. Inside a fourth wall break. How to get this right? One tiny ask. You're not asking to meet them. You're not asking to pick their brain with coffee. Gross. By the way, who wants their brain picked? Such a weird saying. Pick my brains. They're unpickable. Two, the ask can be something that they can respond to in 10 seconds. That shows that you understand what their unique skill or interest is. For instance, Cody, how do I get rich? Not a good ask. So if you reach out to me, you might ask, Cody, I'm buying my first business and I need to get a lender. Which one do you like to use the most? Or what are your top three lenders? It's really easy. I can respond in 30 seconds. It also shows that you know what I am talking about. Think about a way where at the end of me engaging with you somehow that there's a little smile on my face and ideally I want to share it. You don't have to get this right every time, but that is certainly how you get it right. So we tried to recreate this approach with Anthony Pompliano, renowned investor and entrepreneur. I sent poor little Christian to connect with Pomp with nothing but a nice note and a personalized cake. It worked so well that we ended up with a one on one ex Navy SEAL as security. AKA it didn't work at all. But that brings me to my next point. The reason that it didn't work is a couple of things. One is we didn't think about our audience. Pomp has a private office. He doesn't want people sending random stuff to him. Two, we didn't tell him beforehand that we were gonna send something like this. Three, maybe you don't send like a cake that's open packaging to somebody that anybody could mess with. Not my brightest moment. Although I love his face on this cake. I mean, I still think it's a great idea, but. But the truth is you want to take a little risk. The worst thing that's going to happen, you're going to have a good story to show for it. Step four, being ballsy. The chances are you have an influential person in your realm of connections in your network. And if not, you've walked past them on the street, saw them or could see them, especially with all the conferences going on in the world. So you need to take your chances. Last month I spoke at a conference. Turns out we ran into a future presidential candidate. We got a presidential candidate up there and then we have me. It's basically the same thing, no difference whatsoever. Or he ran into us literally. Good to see.
Do you have an email Address like.
Twitter DM is probably the easiest. Introducing Vivek Ramaswamy rolls right off the tongue. He's worth half a billion dollars and running for president, the most important job in the world. Now, when he walked in the room at the event, even I sat in the corner and didn't introduce myself, but my husband did, which ended up leading to my 28 year old YouTube consultant on our team telling them that their social strategy essentially sucks and they were totally fucking up and doing it wrong. People don't care about this kind of stuff on Instagram.
This is an example of something that's way too overdone. This type of stuff should never be on Instagram.
But we ended up advising them for the next 30 minutes because of that intro. And now we're in Columbus on the way to a presidential candidate's campaign headquarters because we had the balls to ask him a question. Well, actually, I didn't have the balls. This guy did. By the way, that's my husband who got looped into this YouTube video. Despite lots of protests. He had the balls to do one thing that all of us weirdo youtubers didn't, which was like, get out of our seat and shake the hand this presidential candidate. So I don't know a lot about presidential campaigns, but I know a thing or seven about social media. So I thought, could we make his Instagram great again?
That's not funny.
So now we're gonna figure out, how do we take this to the next level? How do we seal the deal? Speaking of seal the deal, I do deals for you guys all day long, but the only deal you have to do is to hit that subscribe button. When we arrived in Ohio, we talked all about social media, strategy, politics, and my husband and I were even invited on his podcast, which is wild. Sorry, guys, get away here. We would have never gotten this if we hadn't shaking a hand stood up. Now, you may not be in the same room as a presidential candidate. We had to make that happen ourselves. But who in your area do you know who is speaking at an event you could go to? What if when you shook their hands, you had an actual plan? Or who else knows somebody powerful that could make an introduction for you? What separates the winners from the losers are those who get a little uncomfortable. Here's how to get this right. First, position yourself as valuable. You are an expert in some field. What is the area where you can get free advice for 30 minutes? 2. Have a clear ask. We didn't need an ask with Vivec. We had a give. Which is even better. You don't want to waste their time and waffle around with what you're going to say. Clear. Ask 30 seconds or don't say it now. Here's how to mess this up. Vague requests. Can I grab a coffee? No. God, please, no, no, no. How do they know that you can actually help them if you haven't painted a really specific picture? The second is thirst traps. Don't do it. Don't be needy. Here's the way we quench our thirst. You want to be seen as you don't need them. You're doing them a solid. Lastly, you don't need to be an expert. You could also be an expert connector. Leverage the people you know, connect the two, and then every time those two people meet, they're going to think of you. The difference between an incredible life, an exceptional life, and a normal life are the people that you let in the door. Problem is, most of your friends you've been hanging around with all your life are not going to get you where you want to go. So who are you going to apply this to today? Pick three people. You could comment them below. Maybe somebody on this YouTube video knows that one person you're trying to connect with, because one connection can change your whole life.
