Short YouTube monologue by Codie Sanchez (uploaded July 1, 2023) criticizing the common "struggle-to-succeed" entrepreneur narrative. Sanchez acknowledges business is hard (payroll issues, employee challenges) but rejects glamorizing extreme personal sacrifice, arguing she built a large portfolio without sleeping on a couch and advocating for working smarter instead of harder.
How many times have you heard this story? I slept on my couch for two years to pull this off. I mortgaged my house. I barely made it. I'm so tired of that narrative. We've all done it. It is hard. Don't get me wrong, it's not that fun when you run a business, it's hard. Payroll doesn't get made all the time. Your employees are always the solution, but also the biggest problem. And we know that. But I don't want to get over this hustle poor nonsense mentality that you have to sleep on a cot to make your millions. I actually just think that meant that those people weren't very good. Because guess what? I've accumul created a giant portfolio, happily never slept on a couch, even though my parents came from nothing and they were immigrants. So what if we could just work smarter instead of harder.
