Do you have that friend who is totally not self-aware and they drive you a little crazy because of it? Here's a crazy statistic: 95% of people think they are self-aware, but only 10 to 15% are. And that's not my opinion, that's Harvard. So what does self-awareness actually look like in real life and how can you tell if they are or are not? 1, they can take feedback well. Self-aware people listen, like no interrupting. They just take it in. 2, they focus on results, not intentions. So self-aware people look at outcomes. If something keeps not working, they don't spin a story. They just adjust because intentions are actually hard to spot, but results aren't. 3, they notice when they get defensive. If someone gets triggered and instantly explains, deflects, doubles down, that's a blind spot. Self-aware people do the opposite. They get curious instead of loud. So maybe you send this to somebody in your life who is slightly unself-aware because the thing is the people who are the most self-aware, they also make the most money. So let's help a friend out.
