Codie Sanchez argues that teaching people to buy small local businesses like laundromats and car washes, or to own the trades they work in, gives them skin in the game and real leadership skills. When ordinary people own something, she says, they feel ownership in society itself.
Why couldn't the little guys go buy the local laundromat or car wash if we just taught them how to do micro acquisitions? Then you could be the owner of your plumbing company, having worked in it for 10 years, and you can learn the leadership components of it. You could learn how to structure a deal to own it. So that's sort of our mission, is getting more people into ownership. Because what does ownership mean? It's skin of the game. If people raise for you, they've got skin behind the presidency and they've got some ownership of this country as opposed to right now. I think a lot of people feel like they don't.
