Codie Sanchez breaks down when to quit your job with the REBI checklist: Runway (months you can survive), Evidence (actual paying customers), Acquisition (can you get more), Demand (does the market already pay for this), and a fallback plan if it fails.

When do you quit your job? I think you're ready to quit your job not when you feel ready, but actually when you have a checklist of what ready looks like. We call this the REBI checklist. So first, R is runway. That's how many months can you survive if no money comes in? E is evidence. Like, do you actually have something to sell? You know, I'm not talking about your friends saying you should start this. I'm saying receipts. Has somebody actually paid you something? A is for acquisition. So can you get customers repeatedly? One lucky sale does not a business make, unfortunately. D is for demand. Are people already spending money to solve this problem? If yes, you do not need to create demand. You just need to capture it. That's a great place to be. And why is your yuck outcome? Basically, if this fails, what happens? Can you go back? Can you get another job? Can you freelance? I actually don't want you to burn the boats. I think you should have a plan of what you're going to do if it doesn't work out, because it's usually not as scary as you think. So I don't think it's about feeling ready. It's about following the checklist and seeing if you're actually ready.
