Cody Butler argues men should base emotional responses on logic and values, not nervous system reactions that create false narratives. He explains how the body misinterprets stimuli like a cold feeling or text message into emotional collapse, and says adopting a data-first mindset gives men emotional sovereignty.

So what we're ultimately looking for here is data, not drama. You've got to, you've got to adopt the position of, I am a man who operates from data, not drama. Right now, you're very likely in the position of operating from drama, not data. So emotional collapse happens because you allow your nervous system to become the interpreter of the situation. You get it. I keep using the text message. We'll stick with that. But it can be a lot of different things, right? It can be a bunch of different stimulus that's stimulating. You allow your nervous system to feel something like, well, this is cold. And then that becomes the interpreter. That feeling is then interpreted as, well, that was cold, therefore X, Y, and Z. There's, it's a drama interpretation based on a feeling, not logic, not values, not rules, and not perspective. True masculinity. If you want to become independent, uh, sovereign, emotionally sovereign as a man, which is actually what your wife needs from you regardless of what she says.
