This YouTube video features Alison Brydle, a personal trainer in her early 60s who explains why fitness for women in midlife is about quality of life (keeping up with family, travel, daily activities). She recounts starting weight training at age 50, found gyms intimidating, trained with a personal trainer, then became one herself and created a private, comfortable gym space. Alison tours her gym (BOSU trainer, stability balls, bench, cable machine, treadmill, free weights, medicine balls, resistance tubes) and emphasizes weight training to maintain bone strength—noting that "one in four women" will develop osteoporosis. Contact details are said to appear at the end of the video.

One in four women are going to develop osteoporosis.
Hi, I'm Alison. You know, as a woman Entering my 60s, I've come to realize that fitness isn't just about having six pack abs anymore. It's about lifestyle and having a quality of life. Whether that's spending time with your children, keeping up with your grandchildren, or traveling, or just being able to do all the the activities you've always done well into your retirement. When I was 50 years old, I decided I wanted to try weight training and I found the gym environment extremely uncomfortable. So I decided to hire a personal trainer. And it was such a great experience for me and it inspired me to become a personal trainer. And I realized that lots of women were just like me, they found the gym environment intimidating. So I decided to create a private space where my clients could come and work out with me and feel comfortable and safe. Come on, let's go see my gym.
Hi, welcome. This is my gym. This is where it all happens. And right now I'm standing on a BOSU trainer that helps you train your balance and it gets your core working a little bit. And over here I have my bench and I have a couple of stability balls for people of different heights that we use to train with. And I have a cable machine here that we do some things with for upper back and arms and things like that. And here I have my good old treadmill. It's great. It does very well in here. And over here I have all my free weights, some other medicine balls, and I have these tubes which we also use a lot to train with. They're a really great training tool. And if you're traveling you can take a tube with you and do workouts with tubes. That's really great thing. And over here I have these really cool little soft shell medicine balls that are really fun to play with. And you can stand on the Bosu and you can throw them and catch them and it's really fun. You know, I can stand in a Bosu and you can stand in a Bosu and we play catch together and really develops your balance, which is really important. And you know, as a woman in my early 60s, it's really concerned to me about keeping my bones strong and my skeleton strong. And you do that through weight training and exercises such as that. And you know, it's a huge concern that one in four women are going to develop osteoporosis and this is a great way of preventing that. I'm looking forward to hearing from you and all the contact information you need will be at the end of this video. Thanks.
