A founder describes the brutal reality of starting a business: 14-18 hour days, panic attacks at night, constant financial fear. He argues that early entrepreneurship is survival, not freedom, and that's okay.
So we start a business for freedom. Sadly, most of the time it's just survival. No one really talks about those 14, 16, 18-hour days that you have, those panic attacks that you have in the middle of the night that keep you awake, keep you wondering how things are going to happen for you and when the money is going to come flowing in. Then going into the office early in the morning, trying to make things work, trying to get things to happen. This is the truth about entrepreneurship. For many people, entrepreneurship, that freedom will happen for you later on. In the beginning, it feels just like survival, and that's okay.
