Colin Sprake spends five minutes each morning outside listing what he's grateful for: his family, his business, his own strengths, and his mentors. He says this habit changed his life more than any formal program, and that feeling each gratitude often stretches the practice longer than five minutes.

There's a 5-minute habit that I do just about every single morning, and it's completely changed my life more than any personal growth program or other kind of personal development tool that's out there. I wake up every morning, honestly, I do. I wake up with a heart full of gratitude. I have a beautiful wife next to me. But the thing, my habit that I actually get up and do is I get outside. It's part of my actual morning routine. The first thing I do is actually gratitudes, and I have 4 sets of gratitudes. My first gratitude is just about for anything. Gratitude for my pillow I wake up on, grateful for my beautiful wife, my daughters, what have you. The second set of gratitudes, depending depending on where you're at, would be gratitude for career or business. Really important. I actually divide that up into 3. I'm grateful for our Success partners and local handyman, our franchisees. I'm grateful for all our customers. Always be grateful. Remember, and gratitude's on a laundry list. It's actually feeling those gratitudes, really important. Then the 3rd gratitude, set of gratitudes is for self. Grateful who you are, grateful for your intelligence, your brilliance, your genius, whatever it might be. And then the 4th gratitude I do, gratitude for mentors and teachers, past, present, and then I welcome my future mentors and teachers into my world. I might not know who they are, but I welcome them in. That's my routine I do every single morning. In fact, a lot of times it lasts longer than 5 minutes because it's something that's so deeply connected inside of me that I love so much. I trust it helps you. Go out, be grateful. Stop wanting every day and start being grateful for what you have every single day, because most of us don't have anything to really complain about, but we have a lot to be grateful about.
