Small Business - Mindset is Everything - Colin Sprake from MYMSuccess.com

Colin Sprake tells small business owners that mindset is their biggest obstacle. He argues you should treat failures and difficult clients as learning opportunities, not setbacks, and take responsibility for who you work with and how you interpret what happens.
I want you to think a little bit differently. So here's a topic to think about. And some of you might remember this from Business Mastery, which is our three day event. Here's three words. What's the opposite of those three? And if you know the answer, don't give out the answer. Those that have been to Business Mastery with me, what's the opposite of obvious? Opposite. Bad. Wrong. Failure. Okay, truly, the opposite is for business owners and in life. Because here's the thing, when I spoke about it earlier, the number one challenge for us. Where is it in the front before. The number one challenge for business owners is at the end of the day, mindset. This is the most. This is the most challenging word. And the biggest challenge for most business owners is mindset. So when you look at things, how you look at things will dictate your results. Everything that happened to you today. How many of you had a challenge today in your business? Yeah. How many of you had something that failed, went bad, or was wrong? How you look at things will dictate your results. It's not how bad it is because here's my one favorite statement. One of my new favorite statements is a challenged client is an asset. It's all how you look at it. Those clients can teach you something about your business. The saddest part is we find a client who's complaining not to be an asset. We say, oh, we just wish we could get rid of them. That client's really wanting to tell you something about how you should maybe look at your business. Yes, some clients are habitual complainers as those. We know those. Okay, but the key thing is, what are you learning from those clients? What are you learning from them when we do things? Wrong? I wrote a book, an e book, and it's going to come out in the next month or so. I wrote an ebook in December. All on one. Finger forward, three fingers back. And everything we do in life. Because remember, they're a client. You chose them, you schmoozed them, you selected them, and you allowed them to pay you. You are just responsible for them being a client as they are a client. Doesn't make sense, Richard. It's true. But we say that's all their fault. Why should we listen to our client? That client's disgruntled. We took that client on. So it's really important to understand what can we learn from our clients? Because when we look at our clients, we can learn a ton from them or from our family. When certain challenges come up in your family. Good. Right. Success what have you. The opposite is not failure, wrong or bad. It's what can I learn from this situation? If you start to say that to yourself every time something happens in your business, what can I learn from the situation? Your business will change dramatically because people get how many of you believe in bad days? How many of you had a bad day before? Isn't that mindset? Who said you have to have a bad day? Can't it be a bad moment, a bad three minutes, a bad 20 minutes? Or now a learning 20 minutes or a learning day? It's all the way you look at things. Really, really important. Big, big, big trainer in understanding. Because the biggest challenge for business owners really is mindset. I could train you in sales, I could train you in marketing, get you to do anything, but the challenge is getting you to do it. Because that's where the majority of challenges for business owners. I train courses. Had a lady come up to me recently after a course. She said, colin, I cannot believe how frustrated you get on stage at some of your events. I say because I see people do the same thing, complain and expect a different result. Until they start to change things, they'll never see a different result. Really, really important. Ok?
