The advice I would give my younger self came from being on stage at an event where I was part of a panel, and someone asked me, what do you wish you had learned earlier? And I sat there and I thought about it, and I was like, wow, what was it? It's actually only one word, and that word would have changed my trajectory, probably in my career, in life, in business, what have you. And that one word is the word trust. If I'd learned the word trust sooner, I would have trusted my team members more. I would have empowered them more. I, at one stage, was this person was on top of everyone, micromanaging, thinking I was doing a great job, being a great leader. Remember, if you don't trust people, it actually goes back to you don't trust yourself. When you trust yourself, you will trust others. So I wish I'd learned this sooner. I would have built my companies quicker. Yes, for sure. Are there things that your employees do that you would never do? Absolutely. But when you trust them, empower them, and let them go, that's when your business grows. That's when your business scales. In fact, it will scale without you when you learn trust. I wish I'd learned that way sooner.
