A business plan full of fixed tasks becomes useless the moment customers show up. Focus on your outcome instead, stay flexible to what people actually do, and hunt for leverage opportunities that accelerate progress. Rigid demographic targeting often misses the real market.

Your business plan is useless. I have watched a ton of entrepreneurs build out a business plan, spend 6 months to 12 months on building a plan out, and the plan is dead before the ink is even dry. I want to share this with you. I have watched this time and time again. What you need to look at is what's the outcome you're looking for from your business. That outcome is so important. So many people build a plan that is very task-based, and all they do is follow the task, follow the task every single day, as opposed to look at the outcome. Because sometimes outside of those tasks, are the biggest leverage opportunities that will get you to your outcome quicker. And because you are so focused on the task every day, you don't look for the other opportunities outside there that could get you there a lot quicker. This frustrates me when I see people doing this to themselves. That's why when you build a plan, at the end of the day, your customers will dictate the results you're gonna get. You actually might go out into the marketplace going, I am gonna focus on people that are in a certain demographic, a certain psychographic. And then all of a sudden, 3 months in, you realize the people adopting your product or service are completely different pocket, and then your plan becomes void. At the end of the day, a plan is important, but nowhere near as important as staying focused on the outcome. Be outcome-focused. Don't be task-focused, because when you focus too much on the tasks, it's myopic, and it doesn't get you the results or allow you to see opportunity that might be on the periphery.
