What data is Deep Seek AI collecting and how can you protect yourself? For those of you guys that don't know, Deep Seek AI topped the free app chart as the number one free app to download. But it is a huge cause for concern and here's why. Hi, I'm Caitlin. I'm a cyber security and data protection expert and I want to help you protect yourself while using Deep Seq AI. Let's go. There is a huge cyber security risk to this and I'm going to explain all the data they're collecting, where it's being stored and why this is really important. And honestly, if you don't have the time to listen to this, just know that you should not be using Deep Seek AI for any confidential company or personal information.
So first they collect the information you provide, which is your profile information, user input, which is basically anything you put into the app or the AI platform, and then the information that you use when you contact them. They also collect technical information, which is device and network connection information. When you access the service usage information as well as cookies is how they use your information, which honestly is pretty standard. But they keep your information for as long as necessary to provide services, which is a huge red flag and very different from the US or other European countries where there's a restriction on how long they can keep it. And here's the kicker. Your information is stored in the People's Republic of China. Now this is completely different from TikTok because tick tock has adamantly said that they store the information in the U.S. if all your information that you're putting into this app is stored on the People's Republic of China, that means that China can access it at any time. Any use this information. This is why this app should not be downloaded and why you shouldn't. You need to share this with friends. This is especially important when it comes to anyone working in our federal government, FBI, CIA, critical infrastructure because if you are using Deep Seek and putting any proprietary or confidential information into this, China then has access to it. If you happen to reuse the same password for this app for anything else, then they have your password, they can get so much data from you. Just be very, very mindful. I would just recommend don't use it. Use ChatGPT for right now until the US can figure out a play with Deep Seek. This is not to try to instill fear, but I'm just showing you from a data privacy perspective this is a huge red flag.
