So what is the biggest threat to small businesses? I flew all the way to San Francisco to ask this to the VP of Global Cybersecurity Solutions at Verizon Business, and here was his response. P.S. apologies for the background noise. It was so loud in there. By far, it's ransomware. So he then goes on to explain that this year's DBIR report revealed that 88% of cybersecurity breaches in small businesses were caused by ransomware. Ransomware is a type of malware that locks or encrypts your data and hackers then demand a payment or ransom to get it back. Here, he continues to explain that small businesses are being targeted more than ever because they often don't have the same cybersecurity resources or maturity as larger companies. That's why Verizon Business is stepping in to help giving small business owners the tools to strengthen their cybersecurity. He also strongly recommended having secure up to date backups so if ransomware does hit, you can recover your data without paying the ransom. If you're a small business and don't know where to start with your cybersecurity, I strongly recommend you think about Verizon Business. That's what I use and that's what I trust. Follow for more cybersecurity tips and be sure to share this with other small business owners.
