Ever wonder what makes your data so valuable to hackers? This is what they do with it. Hi, I'm Caitlin. I'm a cyber security and data protection expert, and I want to help you stay safe online. Let's go. Brace yourself, because this is not pretty. Besides the objects like gaining access to your login credentials and breaking into social media accounts and other accounts, hackers can also use your data to piece together a scarily accurate picture of you, your habits, your social circles, even your deepest fears. All this information is then piled together and sold on the dark web. Use this for identity fraud and other things. Use this for phishing, emails and scams, and send these to your close relatives to get their information. Some hackers even hold your data for ransom. This is what's known as ransomware. Hackers can leak your private information or compromise photos to the world. Sadly, once your data falls into the wrong hands, you and your family can be at risk.
