Don't believe anyone on this platform that says that you can get a six figure cybersecurity job straight out of college or just by doing a few certifications or doing a boot camp.
As someone who has helped over a hundred people start their careers in cyber security, I can confidently say that I agree Earning a degree, certifications or attending a boot camp does not guarantee you a job. While these credentials can get your foot in the door, they're not enough. What truly sets you apart in cybersecurity is networking and gaining hands on experience. Unfortunately, many companies exploit the misinformation around cybersecurity and they market expensive programs and promise certifications but leave individuals stuck without a job. When I graduate, completed my master's degree in engineering and started my first job in cybersecurity consulting, my salary was 75,000. The next year I moved up to 90,000 and it wasn't until my third year where I broke six figures. Depending on the area of cyber security you enter and where you're located, entry level salaries typically range between 55 and $90,000. With a few years of experience and specialized skills, reaching six figures is absolutely achievable, but it takes time and consistent effort. There's so much misinformation about breaking into cyber security and securing a job. Which is why I created the Cyber Career Club with my friend Chris Cochran, a seasoned cybersecurity professional with over 20 years of experience. The CY Career Club is designated to provide clear guidance, actionable steps, and the support you need to navigate your career in cyber security. It's not just about certifications, it's about building the right skills, networking effectively, and gaining the experience needed to stand out. If you're actually serious about getting into cyber security, comment Cyber Career Club and I'll send you the link.
