So how do you stop political texts on your phone? It is that time of year and I'm getting so many texts from politicians telling me to donate or vote. So how do they get your number? And how can you opt out? Hi, I'm Kaylin. I'm your cyber security bestie, and I want to help you protect your data online. Let's go. They collect data on you from voter registration, public social media profile, and even data brokers who sell your browsing data and your purchase history. In my opinion, the easiest and most efficient way to opt out of this is to literally text stop to the number that's messaging you and block that number. Also, if you think the text is breaking FCC rules, report it to 7726. I'll write it below and spell out the word spam. The other thing you can do is go to your state's voter registration and see if there's a way that you can hide yours, because some states allow you to do that. Be sure to share this with all your family and friends, because no one wants these political messages.
