Caitlin Sarian, a cybersecurity data protection expert, breaks down what Snapchat collects about you. The app tracks your usage, content, device info, and location, plus data from third parties. Her video walks through Snapchat's actual privacy policy.
So what data does Snapchat have on you? Hi, I'm Caitlin. I'm a cybersecurity data protection expert and this series is called Figuring out the Fine Print where I will be going through Snapchat's privacy policy to teach you what data they're actually collecting on you. Let's go.
To understand what Snapchat collects, I mean, go to their privacy policy@values.snap.com privacy privacy policy. On privacy policy, it'll show you all the different types of information that they collect on you. Usage information content information device information device phone book cameras photos and audios Location information collected by cookies so this is a big paragraph. I would definitely focus on that log information, which is a lot of times people forget that all this is collected and then also all the information that they collect from third parties. So if you're ever linking a third party into Snapchat, they're collecting information from that as well.
