In this brief coaching video, Dallas Bragg explains that anger experienced during addiction recovery is rarely a primary emotion; it usually serves as a secondary response that masks deeper, more vulnerable fears. He outlines common fears that underlie anger—such as fear of failure, fear of sober sexual performance, fear of being boring or socially unwanted, fear of being alone, and the fear that one is only valued because of the drug. Bragg advises viewers to notice rising anger and, instead of managing the anger directly, to ask what fear is being covered up. By naming that fear, its emotional charge diminishes, which in turn reduces the anger, allowing the individual to understand and address the root causes of continued substance use. He concludes by inviting viewers who resonate with the message to comment for an application to his upcoming recovery program.
