Founders and UX designers should ditch detailed interview scripts and instead prepare just 3-5 talking points. Full scripts kill natural conversation and real insights. Stay present, ask follow-up questions, and let users actually tell you what they think.

Before talking to anyone, get clear on why you're talking to them. Are you trying to test a new flow? See what people actually do in your product? Discover real use cases or pain points? The next step is to prep a short list of topics. Keep it simple. You only need 3 to 5 talking points and try to avoid writing a full word-to-word script. It just kills the conversation. Instead of preparing a full script, just be there, be present, and make sure you ask those follow-up questions.
